With this being the last Falcon Focus of the school year, I want to share with everyone how proud I am of the students of Fountain Hills High School. Although this year has flown by, the Class of 2018 has definitely left their mark on our high school. With over $2.2 million dollars in scholarships, a Flinn scholarship finalist, university athletic scholarship signings, 7 state championship teams over the past two years, and a record-breaking year for the
Fighting Flock of Falcon Fury band, the Falcons have truly been the Campus of Champions. Some other accomplishments and recognition include:
* Our new signature programs of AP Capstone, AVID, and Beyond Textbooks have given students opportunities to achieve and are off to a great start.
*
We have added AP Spanish for 2018/19.
* We had our first inaugural Veterans Heritage Project book published in conjunction with local veterans. We are very proud of Mr. Bragg and his
core of students led by Laura Anderson, Noah Ohnsorg, Riley Gant, Kyle Clark, and Michelle Murray.
*
The Falcon Volleyball program had a 58-5 record this year when combining the indoor and beach seasons. The program won the Metro Region Championship and repeated as 3A State Champions for the fall indoor season; and repeated as Section Champions and DII State Champions during the spring beach season.
*
This is the first year in FHHS history to have a Pom team. They performed successfully at every basketball game and pep-assembly. The Pom team participated in their first competition and placed 3rd overall and won "most spirited."
* We started a partnership
with
the local Dark Skies organization and
Evelyn Costello, Sophie Langer, and Ashley Beck all placed in the Dark Skies Art Competition.
* Jostens recognized Fountain Hills Yearbook in the Jostens
Look Book.
* We have grown our partnership with EVIT and students Jonte Fuko and Tabitha Schoenwolf received student recognitions and scholarships.
* We added a swim team and boys' volleyball team for 2018/19 season and have many students interested in both.
* Our partnership with Fountain Hills Coalition has grown stronger and our partnership is truly working to keep kids away from drugs and alcohol on our campus.
