Conjure opens at the Raymond James Stutz Art Gallery Friday, August 2 from 5-9pm

In any time, and in any place, there are always those who yearn to bend the boundaries of our world and look within and beyond. "Conjure" is an exploration of the artist as conjurer; inventing and calling into being the fantastic denizens of their imaginations and dreams.

Eight artists, inspired to look beyond reality for vastly different reasons, have come together to share these expressions of wonder.

Featured Artists: Sofiya Inger, David Kleeman, William Denton Ray, Emma Overman, JD Bills, Rik Deschain, Steven Newlin, and Lydia Burris (exhibit curator).

Join us again at the closing event and discussion about fantasy and fantastic art will be Friday, August 23 from 6 - 9 pm (discussion begins at 7 pm). Come listen and participate! Artists and the public will be encouraged to speak about the importance of fantastic art, its history, misconceptions, and it's current leanings.

ALSO, look for Lydia Burris and Emma Overman on IndyStyle on Monday, July 29 at 9am talking about the exhibit.

The Arts Council of Indianapolis has teamed up with Power2Give to create a new fundraising website for Indianapolis, specifically for non-profit organizations, and right now your donation goes twice as far!

Our lovely historic building, like many older buildings, has delicate wiring. We need new and more efficient lights in the new Gallery space. We've re-launched our 'Lights On at the Stutz Art Gallery' campaign through Power2Give. This time we have a little help from Chase Bank. Make a donation to the campaign in the next 68 days and Chase will double it.
Thank you to NUVO readers for making the Raymond James Stutz Art Gallery your second favorite local art gallery (and congrats to our friends at the Indianapolis Art Center for the #1 spot)! We've also been nominated for Best Art Gallery on the IndyChannel's A-List. Cast your vote and help make us number one!
