New news for today......Wednesday, Sept. 28th

Next week is Homecoming!  We have Monday off, but the rest of the week will be packed with excitement!  Here are just some of the events planned:

Come out and support the girls playing Powderpuff this  Monday, October 3rd starting at  6pm.  $3.00 to attend!

Tickets for the semi-formal Homecoming Dance - "A Night at Sea" will be on sale Tuesday -  Friday next week during all lunches. 
Tickets are $8.00 at lunch or $10.00 at the door. 

Show your spirit next week during Homecoming Week...
Tuesday is "Most" of Us wear Pajamas
Wednesday is Western  Wednesday
Thursday is Tacky Thursday
Friday is Ranger Pride day.  Let's see what grade can show the most school spirit.

Attention Hmong Club members: our next meeting is this Thursday, from 2:45 to 4:45  at the High School in room 335, Mr. Cole's room. See you there!

Past but Pertinent......

Hey Ranger Readers. Some of your favorite authors are coming to town. Join in a free event at the Washington County Library in Woodbury to see Kami Garcia, Marissa Meyer, Emma Mills, & Caleb Roehrig on Thursday, October 6th. See Mrs. Brockman in the media center for more information, or to check out some of their awesome books! 

Interested in joining the Forest Lake Alpine Ski Team?  Please come to an informational parent and skier meeting on October 4th at 6:30 in the choir room (#545) at the high school.  Coaches, parents and currents skiers will be there to answer questions and talk about the upcoming ski season.  Students in grades 7-12 are welcome to join with racing experience.  Please contact Patti Alberg at 651-245-4100 with questions.

The Naval Academy, West Point and the Air Force Academy as well as the Merchant Marine Academy all provide a wonderful opportunity for students to receive a free college education and also participate in service to their country.   If this is something you are interested in, please see Heather in the media center for an application.

LAYSB is hosting a FREE Personal Finance program for teens in 8th -12th grade! You will get an opportunity to learn from local bankers about the importance of saving, how to create a spending plan, and get information on credit, debt, and identity protection. Registrations forms are in the College and Career Center.

Tutoring will officially begin  Tuesday, October 11th
Tutoring will only be offered to students enrolled in classes at the high school (we have some 9th graders and ALC students).
Here is the schedule:
Mondays,  2:40:-4:30   Math/Spanish and French
Tuesdays,  2:40-4:30 Social Studies/ Math and Chemistry
Wednesdays  2:40-3:30 Chemistry
Thursdays  2:40-4:30 Math/Bio/general sciences

We will also offer tutoring  Monday- Thursday mornings from  7:00-7:55.  These sessions must be set up in advance.
Occupational Opportunities.....

On Broadway Car Wash is looking for a cashier/barista. This job entails working at a register ringing up car washes, making beverages for customers, and renting out U-Haul trucks. We are looking for someone reliable, motivated, and well organized. Must have good computer skills and money management skills. Hours are one week working Mon.- Wed. 
3-6 PM and the next week working Saturday 8-6 and Sunday 9-5. So, working every other weekend and every other week. Great for a very RESPONSIBLE and very RELIABLE high school student- you could even bring in your school work to do in between car wash customers! Particularly for Parents

On October 11th from 6-8:30 in the high school media center, Tom Larson from Thrivent Financial will be with us to present "Secret tips for saving on college costs!" This is Tom's 4th year talking with Forest Lake students and parents.  Space is limited so if you plan to attend, please RSVP to

Community Ed is offering a two session ACT prep course called PrepStar Blast starting on  Mon, Oct 10 .  It's a great opportunity for students to have a crash course on preparing for the ACT.
