Attention seniors: A couple of state-wide scholarship opportunities are open for application at this time. Please stop by Mrs. Ward's office in Student Services for information posted outside her door. An important scholarship to apply for is the Minnesota Masonic Charities Scholarship. They are very generous and a few FLHS students are awarded them every year! Go to  https://www.mnmasoniccharities.org/what-we-do/scholarships/#   for more information. 

Interact Club will be bell ringing this Saturday, Dec. 3 from 1-3 p.m. at FL Wal-mart.   Help feed the kettle to bring Christmas joy to those less fortunate.

Past but Pertinent......

As the Holiday season approaches, you may start to dig out your holiday lights! Instead of throwing these away, donate them to Environmental Club! We accept working and non-working lights! We are able to recycle these lights to reduce waste and have a cleaner planet!  We will be collecting through December 16th, We have donation boxes located at: Cub Foods, Washington County Library, and in the school library! 

Adopt a Family is back!  Bring in money, toys and nonperishable food items into your first period class. Food is worth 1 point, each dollar is 3 points and toys are worth 5 points. Books and games are greatly appreciated!  The top three first hours with the most points by  December 9th  get a free breakfast. LET'S SHOW OUR SPIRIT AND BRING IN DONATIONS!!!

College visits coming up are:

19th  @ 9:15 JROTC presentation

Tutoring will only be offered to students enrolled in classes at the high school (we have some 9th graders and ALC students).
Here is the schedule:
Mondays,  2:40:-4:30   Math/Spanish and French
Tuesdays,  2:40-4:30 Social Studies/ Math and Chemistry
Wednesdays  2:40-3:30 Chemistry
Thursdays  2:40-4:30 Math/Bio/general sciences

We will also offer tutoring  Monday- Thursday mornings from  7:00-7:55.  These sessions must be set up in advance.
Occupational Opportunities.....

Forest Lake Schools Community Education program is hiring for after school and non-school days in their School Age Care Program at Linwood Elementary and Lino Lakes Elementary.   Please click here for application or more information.
Rally around the Rangers
"Go Rangers!"

Dance:   Come cheer on the Forest Lake dance team at their home invitational this Saturday from 11 AM - 3 PM at FLHS!  

Girls Basketball:   Come out and support the Girls basketball teams on  Friday, December 2  as they take on Coon Rapids. It is a double-header with the Boys basketball teams. Girls 10th grade and JV start at  4 pm . Varsity Girls start at  6 pm . And don't miss out - there will be Knockerball during halftime of the girls varsity game! Go Rangers!

Particularly for Parents

Congratulations to the National Honor Society for their efforts on Thanksgiving morning with the Walk to End Hunger! They raised $6181.00 and had 60 walkers representing Forest Lake. Thank you to all for your support!

School calendar change coming 2017

A calendar shift has been approved by the school board for the 2017-2018 school year. In 2017, the first day of school will be  August 21st and the last day of school in the spring of 2018 will be May 23rd, two weeks earlier than usual. This one-year calendar adjustment will allow extra time in the summer to complete construction projects at many of the district's buildings without disrupting student learning.
The school year calendar returns to normal in 2018-2019, with the first day of school scheduled after labor day and the last day scheduled for early June.

We appreciate your patience and understanding as we work to upgrade learning spaces around the district.
