Let's welcome the New Year with the Black Light party of the year!  The Sadie's black light dance is this  Saturday, January 7th from  8-11 pm in the Cafeteria.  Tickets will be sold again at lunches  on Thursday and  Friday.

Remember you can bring anyone to a Sadie's dance or come alone.  Girls ask girls, Boys ask Boys, Friends ask Friends, Girls ask Boys, etc.  Let's have a fun time! If you are bringing someone from a different High School...make sure you have a permission slip filled out and turned in.  

Seniors, the deadline to place a baby ad in the yearbook is this Friday, Jan. 6th . Forms can be downloaded from the HS homepage under parent info. Contact Mrs. Kaiser with questions.

Youth Mechanics are needed! Lakes Area Youth Service Bureau's Tried and True Small Engine program is looking for teens 15 and older who want real world experience working on small engines with a professional mechanic. Shop time is Tuesdays & Thursdays from 3:30-6:30 for 3 months. Stop by the office to pick up an application.

Grace Period
The U has implemented a grace period for fall 2017 applicants. Any freshman application materials received in the Office of Admissions by December 31 will be considered as having met the priority deadline.

Tutoring will only be offered to students enrolled in classes at the high school (we have some 9th graders and ALC students).
Here is the schedule:
Mondays,  2:40:-4:30   Math/Spanish and French
Tuesdays,  2:40-4:30 Social Studies/ Math and Chemistry
Wednesdays  2:40-3:30 Chemistry
Thursdays  2:40-4:30 Math/Bio/general sciences

We will also offer tutoring  Monday- Thursday mornings from  7:00-7:55.  These sessions must be set up in advance.
Rally around the Rangers
"Go Rangers!"

Boys Basketball:  Congratulations to the Ranger boys on their placements in the Tartan Tournament over the Christmas break.  The B-squad took 1st place, JV taking 3rd place and Varsity taking 2nd place! Way to go Ranger boys! Join us tonight- Tuesday when your team takes on the Raptors of East Ridge, all games at East Ridge. JV and B-squad starting at 5:45 pm and Varsity at 7:15 pm. See you there!

Boys Track:  All Boys Track athletes, and those interested in joining track this spring. There will be a short informational meeting This Wednesday in Room 331 at 2:40 PM. Plan on attending this important meeting.

Girls Basketball:  The Girls Varsity Basketball team went 2-1 in their Holiday tournament last week with big wins over Holy Angels and Wayzata to take 3rd place and improve to a record of 7-2 for the season.  Come out tonight and support the girls teams tonight at home against East Ridge.  10th grade at JV at 5:45 and Varsity at 7:15.  Go Rangers!

Particularly for Parents

Forest Lake Area School's American Indian Education Program has begun and is open to Native students interested in learning more about our Native American culture and heritage.  Meetings are Thursdays after school from 2:45-4:30 at the high school in room 544.   Students can take the activity bus home.  Each week there will be an activity or project focused on the past, present and future of Native American history, culture and current events.   If you have any questions please contact us.

Semester 2 parking permit applications will be available to apply on  FeePay (on a parent's SchoolView account).  Because of our limited spaces please apply early.  Just a note:  Parking passes are not currently open to Sophomores.  Please keep looking at the announcements to see if passes are open to Sophomores.  

School calendar change coming 2017

A calendar shift has been approved by the school board for the 2017-2018 school year. In 2017, the first day of school will be  August 21st and the last day of school in the spring of 2018 will be May 23rd, two weeks earlier than usual. This one-year calendar adjustment will allow extra time in the summer to complete construction projects at many of the district's buildings without disrupting student learning.
The school year calendar returns to normal in 2018-2019, with the first day of school scheduled after labor day and the last day scheduled for early June.
