The Austin metropolitan area added 26,400 jobs, or 3.3%, in the 12 months ending in September, according to the latest release of preliminary payroll jobs numbers by the Texas Workforce Commission and the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics. Among major Texas metros, Houston does best with year-over-year job growth of 3.7%. Austin's 3.3% growth rate makes it the third best performing among the 50 largest U.S. metros. San Antonio ranked 8th and was up 2.8%, while Fort Worth, up 1.9%, ranked 19th and Dallas, up 1.6%, ranked 23rd. Full report here.
