Hello FPA Members!

We would like  to invite you to join us in Sacramento on Tuesday, March 8th for our third annual FPA of California Advocacy Day. We will meet our fellow FPA members and FPA national staff at the Embassy Suites near the Capitol and Riverwalk for a hosted breakfast and orientation. From there we will go to the Capitol to engage in conversations with our State Senators and/or Assembly Members to introduce ourselves and FPA of California to them.

We have found during previous advocacy visits to Sacramento and local district offices that representatives and staff are generally open to hearing about financial planning and how we are different from others in the financial services world.

Why take time from your busy practice to join us in Sacramento for a day? Like anything in your life or business, RELATIONSHIPS matter and these meetings build stronger relationships with elected officials and their staff members. When issues do arise (and they will), we will be more effective in influencing the outcome if we already have those relationships in place.

In addition to the briefing the morning of the visit, we will provide you with a webinar training about a week before, including talking points and materials to bring with you to your meeting. For your information, here is a link to find your California elected official based on your district of residence (once on their website, click on the Contact Us tab)

Let us know ASAP if you'd like to participate. To register, please complete the necessary form by clicking here.  Executive Director, Holly Wilkerson, will be setting up the appointments for you and the other volunteers. If more than one member plans to visit the same legislator, we'll coordinate your visit(s).  Also, when possible we will pair you with another volunteer (even if from a different legislative district) for a "tag team" approach.

We also have arranged a discounted rate at the Embassy Suites in the event you would like to arrive Monday night and/or stay over Tuesday night in Sacramento. Holly will provide that information once you RSVP.

Mark your calendar now and plan to participate and enjoy an interesting experience in support of our profession. We look forward to another successful Advocacy Day!

Sincerely,

Alice King, J.D., CFP®
President, FPA of California
