FREE Arbor Day Celebration
Friday, April 27 and Saturday, April 28 | 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Enjoy FREE admission to the garden to celebrate Arbor Day and recognize the Cherry Blossom Centennial. Explore the beautiful spring garden and learn about the importance of nurturing and caring for trees.
- The first 100 households to arrive each day will receive a free tree seedling
- Enjoy docent-led tours of the trees at Lauritzen Gardens
- Participate in fun, tree-themed activities
- Walk through the arboretum to discover the amazing diversity of trees
Don't miss the commemorative tree planting ceremony on Friday, April 27 at 11 a.m. A special planting
of three Sargent Cherry trees, gifted to the City of Omaha and the state of Nebraska from Japan to commemorate the Cherry Blossom Centennial. Special guests include: Consul General OKAMURA Yoshifumi, Consulate General of Japan at Chicago, Maria Taft and Julie Taft, great-great-grandaughters of Helen and William Howard Taft, 27th President of the United States, in office when the first flowering cherry trees were planted in Washington D.C., The Honorable Jim Suttle, Mayor of the City of Omaha.
