FREE PARKING for CMS Students & Families in Downtown Allentown!
Dear CMS Students & Parents,

I am very pleased to announce that, effective Monday, November 14, 2016, CMS students and their parents may park at no cost for 2 hours in the covered "Transportation Center" parking deck at 6th and Linden Streets in downtown Allentown. Before your lesson time, simply enter the parking deck on 6th Street, just north of Linden Street, and take and keep the paper parking card from the dispenser. When you check in for lessons, our front desk representative will provide a prepaid parking voucher good for up to 2 hours of free parking. When you exit the parking deck, insert your paper parking card and then the prepaid parking voucher into the machine at the garage exit, and you will be on your way!

CMS will continue the free parking program for at least 12 months, to provide you with added convenience during construction of the Strata at Symphony apartment building on the current "State Lot" parking area at 6th and Linden. The Allentown Parking Authority plans to permanently close the State Lot on Monday, November 14. CMS students and parents will park free at the "Transportation Center" parking deck at 6th and Linden. Please use caution when crossing 6th Street and then Linden St. to access the pedestrian walkway along the east side of 6th Street. Then walk up the ramp to the current CMS entrance facing Linden Street.

If you need to drop off your child for a CMS lesson or recital, please use the free loading zone/drop off area on 6th Street in front of Miller Symphony Hall. I suggest you lock your car and leave your flashers on while you escort your child up to check in at CMS. I also caution you to not leave your unattended car in the loading zone for more than 10 minutes.

PLEASE NOTE: The free parking program is not available on evenings when there are hockey games, concerts, or other events scheduled at the PPL Center. On these occasions, students and parents can find hourly metered parking on nearby streets or garage parking - now for only $1/hour - at the Government Deck at 4th and Hamilton Streets.

I hope you find the free parking program a convenient solution to the downtown parking challenges we all face. Thank you for continuing to choose CMS for high-quality music lessons and ensembles. I appreciate your patience and understanding while the Strata at Symphony building is under construction. If you have any questions or concerns, please call or email me directly or speak with our front desk staff. Thank you!
