5TH Grade Promotion is Wednesday, June 1st at 8:45am!  We ask that EVERY 5th grader wear their 5th grade t-shirt.  It is open seating, We request that you DO NOT bring your younger siblings who attend Carver School.

Carver Appreciation Week
On May 9 th-May 13 th, we held our annual Carver Appreciation Week. This year, we celebrated "A World of Thanks". The Carver community showed their appreciation to our wonderful Carver teachers and staff by providing the special morning treats in the teachers' lounge. The students also participated by bringing flowers, decorating flags, and writing the Thank-You notes. We ended the week with a grand Appreciation Luncheon on Friday in Scrim Auditorium.
 
We are extremely grateful for all the parents and volunteers who devoted their time and effort to make Carver Appreciation Week such a successful event.

San Marino Schools Foundation
The San Marino Schools Foundation thanks the District families from Carver that have generously donated to the Foundation's Annual Campaign during the 2015-2016 school year.  The Foundation has raised almost $1.9 million but we need to raise $2.5 million before the end of school in order to continue to fund the District at the current level.  If you have not yet donated, please join the families from Carver that have -- visit SMSF.org to make a donation on-line or call the Foundation office at  626-299-7014 . HMS ORCHESTRAS!
CONCERT TONIGHT!!! 
Huntington Middle School Orchestras invite you to a Farewell Concert May 27th under the baton of Maestro Rob Folsom, the award-winning H.E. Huntington Middle School Orchestras will present their year-end Farewell Concert on May 27 in the Kenneth White Auditorium. San Marino families and friends, especially incoming 6th-grade string players, are invited begin the Memorial Day long-weekend to enjoy refreshments in front of the auditorium at 6:30 pm. The concert starts at 7:00 pm, and includes a blend of favorite traditional and exciting contemporary works. As always, admission is free. The orchestras will say goodbye to 8th-grade musicians, who will progress to the San Marino High School orchestral programs, as well as celebrate this year's many accomplishments, including the Chamber Orchestra's performance at Lincoln Center in New York City in March.

We are pleased to announce Reflections theme for 2016-17.
 
The theme is "What Is Your Story?" 
 
Summer Break is just around the corner and we are hoping that students can start planning for their art projects over Summer. Reflections is a national PTA program celebrating the arts. Students may submit one entry in each category:

  • Film Production
  • Photography
  • Literature
  • Visual Arts

Highlights for the Fall 2016 Season (mid-August through November):
  • New program for 3 year olds (birthday before August 1, 2013); this is in addition to the programs for 4 to 18 year olds
  • On-line registration for returning players and volunteers - no need to attend Walk-in Registration as long as you pay the registration fee via credit or debit card
  • New players and volunteers can register on-line and then attend Walk-in Registration to present a birth certificate or a passport for player's date of birth verification or a driver license for volunteer background check purposes. This process is much quicker than in the past!
  • "Early Bird" registration fee discount is $20 per player through May 15, 2016. The registration fee is $165 per player ($145 per player through May 15, 2016)
  • Walk-in Registration is on May 7 and May 21 at Arroyo Vista Elementary School (355 El Centro Street, South Pasadena) from 9 am to 3 pm for 1) new player DOB verification, 2) volunteer driver license verification, 3) registration fee payments via check or cash, and 4) to provide registration assistance

Summer is a prime opportunity for students to shore up their knowledge and skills in fun and different ways. The Summer Program at the Chinese School of San Marino is a great way for your children to not only learn Chinese, but also develop in other subjects as well-all while having fun!
We offer both whole-day and half-day options, with Chinese language classes in the morning and Arts and Culture classes in the afternoon. Our enthusiastic and experienced teachers create a fun learning environment for students. Please have your children come and join us in this summer!
