As human beings we have the dual capacity to participate in the world as it is today, while at the same time imagining a more beautiful world for all living creatures. The seeds of imagination that we sow in our minds, if planted with intention and tended with care, can blossom into the future for our children and grandchildren. We'll explore examples of those who have believed in the power of imagination to intentionally create the world we dream about.

ACLU People Power Action Event This Saturday, March 11
by Valerie Wood-Lewis

In response to the unprecedented threat of this administration's attack on our basic freedoms, the ACLU is recruiting grassroots activists to organize in their communities.

The People Power program will engage volunteers to take action when the administration tramples on people's constitutional rights, whether that means taking action to defend sanctuary cities, resist deportation raids, or maintain Planned Parenthood funding. But the program will also help give all organizers on the ground tools to influence the national debate from their communities. Now more than ever, we need to be organizing everywhere.

Through resisting this administration's agenda, volunteers will build communities that affirm our American values of respect, equality, and solidarity.

To learn more, please come to a house party to view the livestream training from ACLU and have a brief discussion. We will meet at 66 Caroline St. on Saturday, March 11 from 4:30-7. Yummy snacks provided; RSVP required by following this link: https://go.peoplepower.org/event/attend/1059/signup/?t=1&

About Emma's Revolution

Smart, funny and informative -- like Rachel Maddow and Jon Stewart with guitars.

If there was ever a time for a powerful, loving transformative revolution, that time is now--and this is the music to fuel it! This concert celebrates the release of their latest album "Revolution Now." Covering issues from killer drones to wind energy, from the Black Lives Matter movement to the sustaining power of love, the songs span folk to jazz to funk and will keep you going through this unimaginable-inauguration-to-come and beyond.

As Emma's Revolution's friend Pete Seeger inspired them to sing, "Hope changes everything!"

THE NEW YORK TIMES ~ "Fervent and heartfelt"

The duo's songs have been sung for the Dalai Lama, praised by Pete Seeger and recorded by Holly Near. "Peace, Salaam, Shalom" is sung around the world and has been called the anthem of the anti-war movement. "If I Give Your Name" won Grand Prize in the John Lennon Songwriting Contest and the band's music has been featured on NPR's "All Things Considered", Pacifica's "Democracy Now!" and "The Thom Hartman Show".

Emma's Revolution is well known to UU audiences. Since their 2005 appearance with Pete Seeger at General Assembly in Fort Worth, the duo has performed at General Assemblies from Salt Lake City to Portland, OR. Emma's Revolution wrote "Love Reaches Out" for the 2014 Unitarian Universalist General Assembly theme and premiered the song at a featured performance at the GA in Providence RI. Their songs, "Keep on Moving Forward","Swimming to the Other Side" and "Peace, Salaam, Shalom" are sung by UU congregations across the country and are included in the "Earth and Spirit Songbook", the UU Tapestry of Faith series and the new UU Spanish Hymnal.

Signups are open for this year's FUUSB Camping Trip to Lake Elmore!
by Cheryl Herrick

Signups are open for this year's FUUSB Camping Trip to Lake Elmore! All are warmly welcome to come!

This beloved annual tradition is happening from Friday June 16 - Sunday June 18.

General Info:
We reserve a block of campsites at Lake Elmore (just a few miles from Morrisville), and a bunch of FUUSB families with kids of all ages come for a weekend of fun, eating, hiking, relaxing, fellowship, boating, swimming, games, and, often, a lovely Sunday worship on the beach. We meet on the Friday evening for a potluck, which is fun and casual. All activities are optional, and whatever level of joining-in works for your family is a good level.

This year's details:
If you'd like to come along this year, you need to register and pay ASAP. We have two weeks until we have to pay for the trip in its entirety (a change from past years). We can't ask UU to front the entire cost, and so our first job is to determine whether there's enough commitment to make it happen.

The cost of the weekend is $52 for two nights for up to 4 people (extra people even if they're kids are $5 per night and dogs are $1 per night each.) Please pay with a check made out to FUUSB and "RE camping trip" in the memo line. Checks should be given to Christina in the main office.

You can register here by adding in your name, your choice of sites, and the amount you owe. Only online sign-ups are available this year (no paper forms).

You can pay online here (or else very quickly bring a check for $52 or whatever your correct amount is to UU with RE Camping Trip in the memo line to Christina in the office as soon as possible.)

You can figure out the right site by looking at the park map here.

Questions? Contact Cheryl at [email protected].

We hope you'll join us!
