With so much that we hold sacred seeming to be under threat, many of us have continued to raise our voice against injustice. Others have found a new voice. Still others are perhaps more uncertain. What exactly is your voice? What do we say or do surrounded by so much uncertainty? Through music, readings and stories we'll explore voices of resistance, all of them different, but none of them silent. You might sing. You might dance. Together, we'll create a chorus of resistance.

Speaking of Stewardship - PLEASE PLEDGE NOW if you haven't!
by the FUUSB Stewardship Team

The UU Stewardship Team is wrapping up our 2017 Stewardship Campaign, and we see the light at the end of the tunnel - it's our UU chalice!

How are we doing? As of March 28th, we have raised over $430,000 for our 2017-18 budget, from about 265 pledges. However, we have yet to receive pledges from nearly 80 individuals or couples who pledged in 2016 and/or are members. If you haven't pledged yet, we need YOU to pledge today! Every pledge counts and we are counting on your pledge. We need everyone to do their part so we can move ahead with our sustainable staffing plans for the future.

As a reminder, if you are a member of  our First UU Society, you are expected to make a financial commitment (pledge) every year. That's a true fact, unless you have financial considerations that exempt you from pledging (if so, you just need to contact Christina or Mara to let them know). We are now making reminder calls and sending emails to those who have not yet pledged. Avoid those follow up calls and emails- pledge today!

AND...Please join us this Sunday, April 2nd, in the Parlors and in the community room, after both services, for a celebration of our Stewardship Campaign! And thank you for your generous support of our First UU Society of Burlington!!

Emma's Revolution Concert Tomorrow!
by Caitlin Waddick

Dear friends of FUUSB,

As you may know, we are hosting Emma's Revolution in concert on April 1st at 7:30 pm.

We ask your help in advertising the event. It is a fundraiser for our social justice groups and our music program. We hope to sell another 50-100 tickets with your help!

Would you please post about this event to your neighborhood's Front Porch Forum?

Also, please share the event with your own networks, perhaps by email. The best text is what you write to share your own excitement about this awesome concert. Here is a sample for you to write in your own words:

You can't miss this fabulously funny and wildly witty concert on Saturday night, April 1st, 7:30 pm. Emma's Revolution will perform at the First Unitarian Universalist Society of Burlington, the church at the top of Church St. Food and drinks will be for sale. All proceeds raise money for social justice and music programming. I hope to see some of my neighbors there!

Giving Board
by Nancy Hellen, Lay Lead Spiritual Growth & Learning (and parent support for Youth Group)
Thank you to everyone who purchased experiences for our wonderful youth this past Sunday! We are still seeking donations to support the service and learning trips which our 6th grade class and high school Youth will experience. The idea behind the Giving Board was to show how funds are used for these trips. From bus fare to van rental, and snacks to ringing steeple bells, you put money toward the experiential learning our young people gain so much from.

The Giving Board will be available again on April 2nd, so check out the great pictures and pick a coupon or two and make your gift at that time. Also, you can donate online at the UU website. On this page  click "Donate Now" and choose 6th grade Boston Trip. Funds will be split between the 6th grade and Youth Group.

Thank you, from all the young people and their families!

Love and Justice Vigil this Wednesday!
by Kim Watkin

Come and join us for the weekly "Love and Justice Vigil" that will be taking place in front of the FUUSB Meetinghouse on Wednesdays from 5:00pm to 5:30pm starting April 5th. We will be singing songs and standing in silent vigil. Bring your signs and banners to focus on our vision of a world of "Love and Justice". ( April 5th theme is Black Lives Matter). Following the vigil on April 5th we are opening the Community Room for a discussion on the best ways to build support and fellowship going forward in our community.

Help Us Develop A Restorative Circles Team at the FUUSB
by the Healthy Congregations Team

The FUUSB Healthy Congregation Team (HCT) is looking to sponsor a group of FUUSB members who are interested in cultivating listening and conflict resolution skills with the goal of then working together with the HCT to establish a Restorative Circle system within the FUUSB.

Sarah-Elizabeth Whitcomb, MA, LMT, who was a guest to the FUUSB pulpit this past October around "Creating a Listening Community" and offered a deep listening workshop for our congregation, is offering a Restorative Circles Facilitator Training May 5-7, 2017.  This training will focus on all aspects of the Restorative Circle process, which supports approaching and resolving conflict through reflective listening.   For more information or if you are interested and would like to be sponsored by the HCT to participate in this training in order to then participate in implementing a system here, please contact Peggy Owens-Sands.

The training is being held at the UU Congregation of the Upper Valley in Norwich VT and will be 630-9PM Friday, 9:30-4:30 Sat, and 12-4 Sun.  The cost of the 3 day training is $75.  We hope to sponsor between 10-15 people who are committed to the work of developing a restorative circle process here at our UU.

Care Network Corner: Meal Train Volunteers Needed for April
by Sarah Weber and the FUUSB Care Network

Happy April everyone. We have one family in need of meal assistance. As Kathy's illness continues, fatigue becomes an ever larger issue so the meals you supply are more and more important to the family.

There are no volunteers yet for April, so please help if you can and call me if you have any questions at all. (802 373 0197)

Thank you to everyone.

Different forms of Children's RE as spring unfolds...
by Martha Dallas

There are many ways to offer and structure learning and faith formation! April 9 is the last Sunday of this program year when children meet in age-based class groups, but the learning and fun continues! (just differently!)

We'll have a couple "FUNdays" (formerly "Vacation Sundays") during April break, where a mixed group plays at various activities in the Community Room (or outside if nice!). We have a couple Justice Sundays in May - the 14th and 21st - with guests and special justice-related themes - again, for one mixed-age group. Details are in the works... can't wait to reveal the plans! Our youth lead worship on May 7 - a multigen treat not to be missed! - and a FUNday awaits those who join us on "Marathon Sunday" - one 10 AM service Memorial Day Weekend.
FUUSB 9 a.m. Pianist at Hinesburg Public House

Sam (our 9 a.m. pianist) is performing solo piano music at the Hinesburg Public House in Hinesburg this weekend.

Sam has *TWO DATES THIS WEEKEND*, performing from 6-8pm on SATURDAY, April 1st as well as SUNDAY, April 2nd!

He will be performing another ecclectic assortment of classical, jazz, and pop favorites plus some of my own original music and arrangements on the establishment's beautiful, conservatory-grade Yamaha G1 baby grand piano!

He has two more dates at the Public House coming up in mid-April on Saturday, April 15th and Sunday, April 16th, again both 6-8pm!
