Dear Friend of FPC,
Thank you for giving my family and I the freedom to take vacation at the end of June. We had a great time camping from Niagara Falls to the coast of Massachusetts!
From the relative peace of a family vacation, I've returned to great progress and chaos as we prepare to reestablish life in our church building! During this time please consider blessing our church staff and leadership in three specific ways.
1. Come to help paint and clean the church on Saturday morning (July 14) from 8:30am - Noon.
2. Come help move us back to the church on Saturday morning (July 21) beginning at 8:30am.
3. Please be patient and understanding with us during the next few weeks. Because we are packing boxes, changing phone lines, etc. office staff may not always be available to answer a phone or quickly return an email. The week of July 15 will be especially difficult as we will be moving the office (computers, phone lines, etc.)
God has been good and so have you, our church family! The provision of Union Elementary has truly been a gift and your service and patience has been wonderful during this time of renovation! Thank you!
Looking forward to what life will be like back in the church!

ANNOUNCEMENTS
Card Shower
Lynn Bova, our Director of Family Ministries, is leaving us to pursue other opportunities for ministry. We are asking everyone to send or bring a card to Church this weekend for Lynn Bova. If you are unable to come or bring your card for her you can send it to her at her home address. We would like to "shower" her with love. So many people have benefited from her awesome ministry over the last eleven years. If you have children or have been blessed personally by her ministry, please prepare a card of gratitude, appreciation, special memories and support as she ends her 11 years of service here at First Presbyterian. We are having a special reception in the fellowship hall to honor Lynn after the 10:15 worship service this Sunday.
Search for an "Administrative Assistant"
The church has begun a search for a full-time "Administrative Assistant" who will function as a secretary, giving special attention to communication related needs in the life of the church. In addition to this email newsletter, the administrative assistant will manage our website, redesign and print our weekly church bulletin, manage the church "facebook" account, etc. If you or someone you know may be interested in this position please direct them to our website http://www.fpcmaumee.org/#/welcome/employment-opportunities for information about how to apply.
FYI Update
In the next couple of weeks with the move back into the church scheduled there will be a reduced FYI going out. During the rest of the summer we will do some features on upcoming ministry opportunities coming to the Church. We will send FYI updates out that have a new pastor's corner and any new announcements and prayer requests.
Construction Update
As you can see, construction is going well and is still on target to be completed this month. We thank the congregation for their continued patience as we organize our life around this time of construction. We are in an exciting time as finishes are being added to the renovation. We will be having our final painting/cleaning day on Saturday July 14. If people can paint or clean at other times, please contact Bob Stiles who may be able to coordinate that. We are still planning on moving back into the building on July 21st and would appreciate everyone's help and participation.
Habitat For Humanity Build Opportunities
MO! Missions and Outreach has voted favorably to help fund a Habitat Build as a part of our missions opportunities to Connect Christ and Community in the Toledo area. We just learned of three opportunities to volunteer and would like to know if there are those that have a preference in terms of which project to support. The three builds are: a new build partnership in June/July; a new build partnership in August/September; and a Rehab project in October/November. Please contact Pastor Steve if you have a preference or if you would like to volunteer. Blessings on the house!
Kirkmont Center News
Registration for Kirkmont is now open! The 2012 camp offerings include two new science camps, the return of Music, Art, Dance, and Drama Camp, and many other exciting opportunities for children as young as grades 4-12. Also available are Beginners Camp (4 days) and Kids Camp (children with an adult). Remember that FPC Maumee provides camperships for up to ½ of your fees but not to exceed $75. Go to www.kirkmontcenter.com for more information! If you have questions, please contact Lynn Bova.
Welcome Station Volunteers Needed
Did you know that volunteering to work occasionally at the welcome station isn't limited to Deacons? If you like to meet new people and want to help in this important mission of the church to welcome first time visitors, please contact Ann Sisinyak at amsis9@sbcglobal.net, or 419-865-7290. New schedules for all services will be organized in the fall.

JUMP START PRAYER GATHERING
Each Monday morning at 7 am a hardy group of people from FPC gathers together in the Chapel to serve as Prayer Warriors for God. We gather prayer requests, join together in prayer, and bring back reports of how God is answering our prayers. What an encouraging and invigorating time! Some weeks the needs are many and other times there are fewer spoken or written requests. But the sweetest aspect of these Mondays is to just spend some time in the presence of God. We have seen some exciting answers to prayer. We have continued to pray for our contractors who are working on the building as well as for those who gather for the AA meetings each week. One of the things we pray for is that all who enter our building, for whatever reason, would experience a special touch of God's grace and presence. There is plenty of room at the altar in the Chapel to pray and join us. If you come you will be blessed. |
