Faculty-Student Mentor Initiative
Dear NASSM Student Members,

The NASSM Student Board would like to invite all students to participate in the Faculty-Student Mentor Initiative at the 2017 NASSM Conference in Denver. This initiative introduces students to faculty members who share similar interests and provides an environment for conversation. For those of you who participated last year, the format will be the same this year. Faculty and students will meet anytime throughout the conference. This may be coffee or breakfast one morning, lunch, afternoon tea and crumpets, or a late-evening snack. If you have any trouble coming up with a time to meet, the student board is here to assist in coming up with suggestions to ensure that you have the most beneficial experience possible.

This initiative continues to be extremely beneficial for students, leading to conversations and tips about the job search, research collaborations, and quality relationships that expand students' network. Thus, we highly encourage students to participate in the initiative. If we have not sold you yet, just talk to a student or faculty member who has taken part in the initiative, and they will tell you how beneficial this initiative is. We promise it will be well worth your time - and you will likely get a free coffee or possibly even lunch out of it!

If you would like to participate in the initiative at the 2017 NASSM Conference, please download this document - it includes faculty names, institutions, years on faculty, research interests, and teaching interests. Please choose the three faculty members you would most liked to be paired with and email Mark Slavich with your name, institution, email address, three faculty members' names, as well as your interest for mentorship (e.g., research topic/design, job search/application, new program/next steps, etc.). Please feel free to copy/paste the form below. Please do this by Friday, May 5, 2017. We plan to have you paired with your faculty mentor by the following weekend so that you can connect with your mentor and set up a time to meet at the conference.

The student board sincerely hopes you will participate in this initiative. If you have questions, comments, concerns, complaints, or praises, please do not hesitate to email Mark.
