Plan Selection
May 14-25, 2018

All students who have successfully completed 24 units or more must declare a Plan (aka major).  Access your SOLUS Student Centre any time from May 14 - 25, 2018, to declare your plan.  

Need help? Visit our website at  to review the plan thresholds and for tips on choosing your plan. We've also posted a great "How-to" video that explain the plan selection process. Speak with an advisor in the department of the plan that you are interested in pursuing. Or drop by and see us in the Arts and Science office.

Q&A with our Alumnus Astronaut Drew Feustel

Queen's has been granted the special opportunity to host an Education Downlink with Dr. Andrew (Drew) Feustel, PhD'95 (Geological Sciences), aboard the International Space Station (ISS).

On March 21, 2018, Dr. Feustel will launch from Kazakhstan in the Soyuz spacecraft on NASA's next space voyage, ISS Expedition 55/56, to take over as Commander of the ISS. Dr. Feustel will serve as Flight Engineer on Expedition 55 and as Commander of Expedition 56. The Education Downlink will allow us to speak live with Dr. Feustel aboard the ISS.  This event will broadcast on NASA TV.

Did you know that you can take online courses this summer to get ahead? Here are five that you can choose from, and you can see the whole list of summer course options  here.

2. GPHY 101: Human Geography

Summer course enrolment is currently open. Not sure how to enrol in an online course? In SOLUS, you will need to select "Distance Studies" from the CAREER drop-down in the class search screen so that you can see online course options. If an online course that you'd like to take is full, you will have the option to add yourself to a waitlist.

The "Get It Done" program  aims to provide an additional study/work space for students at Queen's and to encourage work completion over procrastination before moving into exams. Open to all first year students , we provide a quiet space for students to be able to work on their final papers and projects, and receive academic support from Peer Learning Assistants and Peer Writing Assistants if needed. Juice, tea, coffee and snacks will be provided.

Get ahead of schedule and free up time in your Fall or Winter semester: participate in the Arts and Science Summer School at the Bader International Study Centre and take 9.0 units across 3 courses. Select from courses in Art History, English, History, Politics and Psychology. 

With an average class size of 10 students, you will receive individual attention and experiential learning opportunities will take you out of the classroom for enriching academic experiences.

Banquet Speaker - Wilfred Buck
We are very pleased to have Mr. Wilfred Buck, member of the Opaskwayak Cree Nation, as this year's Banquet Speaker.

Mr. Buck's talk will focus on the Ininew (Cree) perspective of Kisic Aski (Sky World). Thirteen Ininew constellations and mythologies will be identified and discussed as well as the sun, the moon and some of the planets. Listeners will get a glimpse of the night sky from a totally different perspective than the main stream Roman and Greek mythology. Light refreshments to follow.
