Have you heard about  Student Academic Success Services? SASS is home to Learning Strategies & The Writing Centre who offer free undergraduate workshops on academic skills such as time management, reading, writing, exam prep, and more.

Consider going to one of their upcoming workshops such as: 
  • How to Write Effective Paragraphs
  • Midterm Prep: Short Answer and Essay Exams
  • Midterm Prep: Multiple Choice Exams

Peer Academic Support Service (PASS)
 
Have you met  Peer Academic Support Service ? PASS is a volunteer service that is run through the Faculty of Arts and Science to assist first-year students. Peer Advisors address common questions and concerns (scheduling, plan requirements, SOLUS, and selecting courses) during confidential advising sessions. PASS is located in our office in Dunning Hall and is available from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm and 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm on weekdays. Feel free to drop in to see a Peer Advisor!
Drop in Workshops at Queen's University International Centre (QUIC)
 
The World Link Program at Queen's is an intercultural program that focuses on supporting the successful adjustment of international students to the Canadian and Queen's social and academic culture while providing social network building opportunities through workshops and social events.  Students are invited to attend any of these World Link workshops, delivered through QUIC  (registration is not required):
  • Wednesday, October 11 - Cultural Adjustment to Queen's and Wellness
  • Tuesday, October 24 - Intro to Intercultural Communication
  • Tuesday, November 21 - Identity and Inclusion

Upcoming Exchange and Study Abroad Events

Exchange 101 Information Sessions
 
Have you ever considered studying abroad? Discovering a new language in its country of origin? Learning inside and outside the classroom? If you have, please join the International Program Office for Exchange 101 Information Sessions this fall. During Exchange 101, IPO staff and student volunteers outline the nuts and bolts of the Arts and Science exchange program. Topics to be discussed include: eligibility requirements, how exchange works, the various types of exchange programs, financing exchange, applying to an exchange program, and the experience of studying abroad itself. Discussion and questions are encouraged.

Semester in Shanghai Exchange Information Session
 
Spend your Fall 2018 semester at the reputable Fudan University in Shanghai. This full-semester program, running for 15 weeks from September to December, provides students with a multifaceted insight into the socio-economic and cultural changes currently taking place in Shanghai and across Asia. Students will get an opportunity to study these developments at Fudan University, whose programs in social science and humanities research are considered to be some of the best in China. Students will learn about the social, political, economic and cultural forces that shape the world in the 21st century in the classroom and through field research. Join IPO staff and student volunteers to learn more about this unique exchange program.

Back from Abroad: Exchange Student Speaker Panel
 
The International Programs Office and the Queen's University International Centre are co-hosting a student speaker panel called 'Back from Abroad: Beyond the Comfort Zone' this fall. If you'd like to spend some time with returned exchange students and listen to personal reflections of their studies abroad, we encourage you to join us for an hour of unique presentations. This panel is an excellent way to learn about the various benefits and challenges of studying abroad.

International Exchange Fair
 
Kicking off International Education Week at Queen's, the International Exchange Fair is a highlight for any Arts and Science student considering studying abroad. This popular event allows prospective exchange students to meet student representatives of Arts and Science exchange partner universities, ask questions and snag some international swag! Representatives from exchange partner universities bring the study abroad experience to life through their stories and candid advice. Please join IPO staff and student representatives for a fun evening of lively discussion and have your exchange questions answered!
