"Thank you for the privilege of serving you and for the rewarding life that service in uniform and in public office has allowed me to lead..."
ATTENTION TO ORDERS

Join us in Congratulating Chris Rolph on his new role at Accenture.

You may remember Chris was last year's Student Veteran of the Year. Chris was not originally from here, but Queens University and Accenture helped us keep him here.

Here's what Chris had to say about his transition: " My name is Chris Rolph; I served in the United States Air Force for 4.9 years (active duty plus some guard time). I was a C130-J Loadmaster and was stationed in Ramstein, Germany."

Why did you move to Charlotte? - "I came here to attend Queens University and join the Charlotte Air National Guard. Also, I knew that Charlotte was a fast-growing city that would provide a great deal of professional opportunity upon graduation."

How was Veterans Bridge Home able to help you?- "Where to start? VBH was instrumental in the standup of the Queens University Student Veterans Association. They have helped structure a community of support for veterans in the Charlotte area and most of all, they have been mentors and friends to me along my journey of transition."

In the U.S. Cavalry it is a tradition to hold "stable calls" where leaders can gather together in a relaxed atomasphere and get to know one another over a drink. Friends of Veterans Bridge Home recommended that we bring this tradition to our community so veterans and non-veterans can get to know one another.

If you are interested in meeting new people and enjoying a cold drink, come out to Lenny Boy Brewing Company (3000 S Tryon St, Charlotte, NC 28217) on Thursday, August 30th from 6-9pm.

Battlefields 2 Ballfields

Battlefields to Ballfields will provide veterans an opportunity to integrate back into their communities through officiating and scholarships.
The Foundation will pay for uniforms and dues that are required by the associations the veterans will join at the local level. Battlefields to Ballfields will pay for their equipment, training materials, insurance, and provide a mentor--who will train and follow them as they move up the ladder in officiating.
Those who have been involved in officiating already have felt the joy of stepping out onto the field or a court. With it comes a great sense of value that leaves one with a feeling of accomplishment.
