I
t's Time to Turn in Your Ballots in Person
This year's election has been underway since mail-in ballots started arriving on October 11th. Voters needed to have those ballots in the mail by November 1st in order for them to count in determining the outcome. If you have not yet received or returned your ballot, now is the time to go the Learning Center located next to the district office on the corner of Palisades and Golden Eagle Boulevard. You can turn in your ballot there through Tuesday, November 7th at 7:00 PM or, if you did not receive one or misplaced it, you can get a ballot at the Learning Center and complete it on the spot and turn it in.
The Learning Center will be open the following times in the coming days:
11/04 and 11/05 8:30 AM - 5:00 PM
11/06 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM
11/07 6:00 AM - 7:00 PM
Please exercise your right to vote and add your voice to our democratic process.
Fall Sports/Band Post-Season Update
Several details have been determined since I wrote last week about our sports teams and band heading into post-season competitions and tournaments. Here's the latest of what they're up to this weekend:
The Falcon volleyball team defeated Casteel in their first-round playoff game earlier today at Camelback High School and will play again tonight at 7:00, also at Camelback. If they keep winning, the state semi-finals match will be at Camelback High School on Saturday at 10:30 AM. A semi-finals victory will mean the team will play for the state championship at North High School on Saturday at 7:00 PM.
The football team made the AIA playoffs for the first time in four years, finishing the regular season with 6 wins against 4 losses. They'll face the 8-2 Sabino Sabercats in first-round playoff action Saturday night at 6:00 at Sabino High School, located at 5000 N. Bowes Road in Tucson.
The Falcon Marching Band qualified for the STATE Marching Festival taking place tomorrow at Dobson High School in Mesa and will perform at 12:45 PM. Currently sitting in 6th place in their division, the 2017 edition of The Flock has the chance to make FHHS history. A top-8 finish this weekend will earn a trip to State Marching Festival Finals, called Super State, on Saturday, November 18th. Competing at Super State would be an FHHS first.
Congratulations to all of our athletes and musicians and best of luck this weekend!
Go Falcons!
