VEX IQ Challenge Robotics Tournament Saturday
The Central Arizona VEX IQ Challenge brings robotics competition to Fountain Hills this Saturday. We expect 36 teams to compete and FHUSD will be represented by 12 teams, six made up of students from McDowell Mountain and six made up of students from Four Peaks.
The VEX IQ Challenge consists of the VEX IQ Robot Game in which students have the opportunity to demonstrate their skills in Programming and Driving Skills challenges. For Robot Game details, visit

. The STEM Research Project provides an opportunity for students, with the guidance of an adult mentor, to explore and solve STEM challenges. The competition and the preparation leading up to it, offer students hands-on experiences to apply what they've learned.
While contestants will be arriving at 8:00 AM, the Welcoming Ceremony is scheduled for 9:45, with matches starting at 10:00. If all goes as scheduled, the Finals Matches will take place at 3:00 PM and awards will be presented at 3:30.
We had a great turnout last year and spectators were treated to some pretty amazing examples of students working together to demonstrate their interests and skills in robotics and STEM. This event is open to the public and admission is free. I encourage you to come out and cheer on our teams and get a first-hand look at what's going on in the growing area of robotics.
SciTech Festival 2017
FHUSD will be participating in the Arizona SciTech Festival again this year. The Arizona SciTech Festival is a state-wide celebration of science, technology, engineering and math (STEM or STEAM when you include the arts) held annually in February and March. Here's a link to more information about events taking place across the state:

This year, the Fountain Hills Unified School District will again join in the celebration on February 25th from 11:00 AM - 3:00 PM as part of the Fountain Hills Great Fair. The district will have exhibits and demonstrations showing just some of the exciting ways in which our students engage and excel in STEAM.
