So much has been happening at MMES lately! We'll have photos on Facebook for you soon!  For now, please enjoy the reports: :)

Ballet Under the Stars

Many of our 3rd graders performed at the September 13 Ballet Arizona production, Ballet Under the Stars at Fountain Park.  Two dancers practiced with the 3rd graders in the three weeks before the performance and Mrs. Perkins organized and supervised.  The students chose their music (a piece from The Nutcracker), choreographed with the Ballet AZ teachers' help, and performed beautifully!  There are only four Ballet Under the Stars performances in Arizona and Fountain Hills is one of them!

Apex Fun Run

September 4-14 was our FHPTO fundraiser, Apex Fun Run where students pledge laps and seek sponsors to raise funds that allow the FHPTO to provide us with programs and purchases such as $200 for every teacher's classroom, the morning lab, STEM and technology materials/equipment, teacher professional development, and more!  Not only did MMES students get to raise money for our school, but they also got to exercise, learn lessons about STRONG (Selfless-Trustworthy-Refuel-Overcome-Next Level-Grateful), and enjoy the humor and enthusiasm of our Apex coach, Rockstar Rick with his daily classroom visits and other activities! The two weeks culminated with the actual Fun Runs on September 13 for preschool and September 14 for K-3rd. The Fountain Hills Fire Department hosed everyone down after each Fun Run and Mrs. D got dumped with a cooler of water four times from the top classes for each grade level!

Constitution Day & Citizenship Assembly

MMES celebrated Constitution Day and Citizenship with their assembly on Monday, September 17! We wore patriotic colors and enjoyed a wonderful program including a Constitution Week proclamation by Mrs. D; Student Council's presentation on the Constitution; RtI Enrichment classes' "green screen" presentation on our national anthem, "The Star Spangled Banner" followed by their performance of the anthem; Falcon Leaders' kicking off their peanut butter drive; Bobby's Best Buddy awards; and finally, our Citizenship awards!

Muffin's Musings from September 6, 2018

It was my turn to go to school today and I was excited as always! I look forward to seeing all my friends. Bobby gave me some last minute instructions and reminded me to stay with Mom today.

I was surprised to see so many different things going on at school!

Ms. Rita, our health aide, had a lot of friends here helping her do all of the hearing and vision testing! When I went into some of the first grade classrooms, the teachers were explaining to their students what to expect when they went to the library to be tested. I sat and listened very quietly just in case Mom would take me to be tested. Every one of the helpers was so friendly... they all wanted to give me hugs! But they had a job to do so I had to leave and make my rounds in the other classrooms.

As I was leaving the library I heard one of the classrooms cheering loudly! I thought maybe they were cheering for me so I had to peek in to see what was going on! There was a new friend named Rockstar Rick and he was telling them all about another exciting event going on at school - APEX FUN RUN! I wagged my tail really hard because I love to run! I can run lots of laps too! I found out that my friends were taking pledges for every lap they would run during the fun run. The more pledges they would get meant our school would earn more money! Which means our PTO could purchase more "stuff" our school needs! This is SO exciting! I got to meet Rockstar Rick who was handing out some cool prizes to the kids for getting pledges for the fun run.

MOM! CAN I GET PLEDGES? I WANT TO COME AND RUN LAPS WITH MY FRIENDS!!!

She said we would talk later tonight with Bobby after we got home... until then we have more classrooms to go visit!

You know...I just love my job!
