Carville giving a guest lecture in the Holliday Forum 

Legendary political consultant James Carville will join our faculty in January.  Carville, who has taught at Tulane University in New Orleans for nine years, will teach in Manship's political communication concentration. His courses will include a seminar in contemporary political issues and a senior class that deeply examines one significant issue, such as the erosion of the Louisiana coastline. In his new role, Carville will also help with fundraising efforts and do speaking engagements on behalf of the Manship School.

New Communications Director
Malin


Stephanie Malin will be the new director of communications at the Manship School beginning Dec. 1.  She is a graduate of the University of Tennessee at Martin, worked for five years in TV news and was the media relations manager and writer at LSU's Pennington Biomedical Research Center in Baton Rouge.

1950s
Dede Wilson (1959) wrote 'Under the Music of Blue," a collection of poetry that translates an ordinary life into a life lived under the stars.

1970s
Marty Mule' (1971) wrote "Game of My Life: LSU Tigers Memorable Stories of Tigers Football," a chronical of more than 35 of the greatest players as they tell their stories of the game.
 
Joseph A. Reaves (MMC 197; HOF 1993) has written two new books, "The Big Chair: The Smooth Hops and Bad Bounces from the Inside World of the Acclaimed Los Angeles Dodgers General Manager," with Ned Colleti (Putnam, October, 2017). and "A Hero's Tale of Surviving Vietnam and the Catholic Church," with Joe Ladensack (Hellgate Press, January 2018).



Jinx Broussard (1971; MMC 1986; HOF 1990) received the National Organ Donor Memorial Award from the Louisiana Organ Donor Association for leading her students' public relations campaigns for LOPA. The average registration rates doubled in the days that followed this year's campaigns.  
 


Lisa Richardson Stansbury (1979) this fall joined the LSU Pennington Biomedical Research Center as its communications director.

1980s
Steven Rabalais (1982; JD 1985) wrote "General Fox Conner: Pershing's Chief of Operations and Eisenhower's Mentor." (Casemate Publishers)
 
Connie Ledoux Book (1986) was named president of Elon University beginning March 1, 2018. She is the school's first female president.  Previously, she served as provost of The Citidel, The Military College of South Carolina.

1990s
Ronlyn Domingue (1993; Mast H&SS 2003) has written "The Plague Diaries:  Keeper of Tales Trilogy Book 3."

2000-2010
 
Melissa Tyler (2002) joined the New Orleans Women & Children's Shelter as its first development director.
 
Nancy Malone (2002), former director of public affairs at Red Cross now works at Blue Cross/Blue Shield.  She and her husband are expecting their third child.
 
Emilia Gilbert (2003), senior director of development in the College of Science, has announced her departure from the LSU Foundation.  She has accepted an offer with the Baton Rouge Area Chamber as a senior vice president of investor development.  She worked with the Foundation since 2006.
 
Katie Macaluso Johnston (2004) works part-time in public relations remotely for Mitchell Communications based in Fayetteville, Arkansas.  She and her husband have two children.  She is interested in finding a part-time public relations job outside the home.
 
Scott Sternberg (2006) is a partner at Sternberg, Naccari & White LLC in New Orleans.
 
Paul Dietzel (2008) is chief executive officer at Anedot Internet Co.
 
Anna Dearmon Kornick (2008) will serve as communications director on the 2017-18 Junior League of New Orleans Board of Directors.




Chelsea Gomez Caswell (2009; J.D., 2013) in an associate at Kean Miller LLP in Baton Rouge.
 



Ellen Zuelinski Whitfield (2010) has joined JKS Communications as an assistant literary publicist.
 
Sheena Mannina (2010) owns Raw Republic, a smoothie and juice bar in New Orleans.


Alyson Neel (2010) has written a children's book, "Girl Power in Myanmar," portraying 15 everyday heroines in the country.  She and co-author Pyo Let Han say their goal is to inspire girls--and boys--with strong female role models. They hope to publish an initial print run of the book by the end of this year. Aly lived in Yongon, Myanmar as a Henry Luce Foundation Scholar. 


2011-2017
 
Lance Frank (2011), executive director of communications at CBS News, has been named by PR News as one of the Rising PR Stars 30 and Under.  He is engaged to Janesia Fontenot.
 
Natalie Kobetz (2011; J.D., 2015) is a mass tort associate at Murphy Law Firm, LLC in Baton Rouge.
 
Michael Lambert (2012) recently accepted a position as a media attorney for NBC Universal/NBC News Group in New York City.
 
Mallory Logan (2012) has been working for Smart Reach Digital (powered by Entercom) for the past 2-1/2 years and was promoted from digital campaign manager in New Orleans to product manager of social media at the headquarters in Denver. 
 
Chris McCollough (2012, Ph.D.), an assistant professor in the Department of Communication at Columbus State University (Ga.), earned top teaching paper honors from the Association for Education in Journalism and Mass Communication's public relations division.
 



Lance Bordelon (2012; MMC 2014) has the lead role in the national tour of the musical, "Kinky Boots."
 



Chelsea Brasted (2012) is now metro columnist for NOLA.com.The Times Picayune.
 
Caroline Gerdes (2012) has a new position at KCTS 9, Cascade Public Media in Seattle.
 
Brittany Meisner (2012) is a senior account executive for On the Mark Communications in Houston.
 
Alexis Sarver (2012) is an account manager for Unified in New York.
 
Ben LaPoe (2013, Ph.D.) and wife Victoria (2013, Ph.D.) this fall started new positions as assistant professors at Ohio University.
 
Jesse Barnett (2013) is an account manager at BBDO in Dallas.  She was previously with the Richards Group.

Ambria Washington  (2013) is the public information officer for the New Orleans Police Department.  CNN and NBC carried some of her stories.


 




Mallory Richard (2013; J.D. 2016), formerly an attorney for the Louisiana Department of Revenue, starts in December as an assistant district attorney for Caddo Parish in Shreveport.

Alaina Richard (2014; J.D., 2017) is a judicial law clerk at Baton Rouge City Court.
 


Kelsey Wingert (2014) is a sideline reporter/host for Fox Sports in Atlanta.
 
Megan Gibbs Talley (2014) was named "Young Public Relations Professional of the Year" by the Public Relations Society of America Houston chapter.
 
Johnny Sciortino (2014) is a videographer and motion graphics designer at Pleasantly Surprised in New York.
 
Dondalyn Breaux (2016, MMC) is a junior account executive at Think PR in New York City.
 
Kristin White (2016) is a communications representative at ERU, a global environmental resource management company in Metairie, Louisiana.

Paul Coussan (2006) became engaged to Kara Kozikowski on Sept. 30 in Washington.
 
Raimy Living (2009) will marry Kevin Vital on Dec. 16 in Lafayette, Louisiana.
 
Erica Sweeney (2014) married Richie Glory on Sept. 9, in Mandeville, Louisiana.
She is the content marketing specialist at Visit Baton Rouge.
 
Kelsey King (2015) became engaged to David Doar on Oct. 4 in Paris.  She is the marketing and communications coordinator at Walton Area Chamber of Commerce in Santa Rosa Beach, Florida.
 
Brandi Thomas (2015) married Joshua Showers on Nov. 21, 2016.

Moriah Purdy Hollander (2014) and husband, Steve, welcomed Mason Michael on Aug. 25, 2017.
 
Ellen Zielinski Whitfield (2010) and husband Kyle (2009) welcomed daughter Maya in January.
 




Christine Derbins Graham (2013) and husband had a daughter, Lila, on May 1, 2017. Christine is the technical manager at the Manship School Public Policy Research Lab.
