Special November Hours

The main library and the Farms branch will be closed for Veterans Day on Wednesday, November 11, 2015. Both libraries will also be closed for Thanksgiving on Thursday, November 26, 2015. Normal library hours for both locations will resume on Friday, November 27, 2015. 

November is Book Sale Month!

Save these November dates! The library's annual 9-day Fall Book Sale begins on Saturday, November 14 at 9 AM, and runs daily through Sunday, November 22. Amazing bargains can be found by all with prices at $1 for kids books and paperbacks, and $2 for hardcovers. Consider joining the Friends of the Beverly Public Library to be eligible to attend the  Friends Preview Sale on Friday, November 13. The family-friendly sale runs from 6 - 8 PM, and you can join at the door. More about the Preview  here. Do you have items you'd like to donate? We're currently accepting gently used books, CDs, and DVDs - drop off items in our Children's Room on the 1st floor of the main library. Info: 978-921-6062 or [email protected]

Make Ornaments from Old Books!

Thursday, December 3 from 6-8 PM
Brave the cold and come to the library to make some handmade holiday decorations. Enjoy some hot chocolate while you give old books a new life as ornaments. No talent necessary. Free; no registration required. This program is geared toward adults and young adults (ages 14+), as some of the art supplies will not be appropriate for children. Handicapped accessible. Questions? All Ages Wreath Decorating
Bring the whole family from kids to seniors to a fun wreath decorating session in the main library's Barnet Gallery on Saturday, December 5 from 1:30 - 4 PM. We will provide decorating materials and light refreshments - you provide the wreath and the creativity! Registration is required. See all workshop details - including limited wreath sales by local Boy Scouts - here. This event is funded by the Friends of the Beverly Public Library, and is free and open to the public.

LEGO Club
The library is starting a LEGO Club for kids in grades K - 5! To support the start of our new club, we are accepting donations of gently used LEGOs (no Duplos please!). Donations can be dropped off at the circulation desk in the Children’s Room. Thank you! And we hope you'll join us this month for:
  • "Singing & Signing with Wendy & Vicki," Wednesday, December 2, 10:30 AM - all ages, no signup needed. Wendy plays guitar and Vicki is a dramatic sign language instructor. 
  • MaryBeth Maes - "Music, Movement and More," Tuesday, December 8, 10:30 AM - an interactive program designed to keep children moving, thinking and enjoying music time! 
  • "Musical Mornings with Miz Liz," Saturday, November 7 @ 10 AM (no registration required)

  • Pizza and a Movie: Paper Towns. Thursday, November 5 from 3:45 - 6 PM, Sohier Room. Quentin's life-long crush Margo disappears, and leaves behind clues that Quentin and his friends must follow on the journey of a lifetime. Based on the YA book by John Green. Free pizza!
  • Anime Club: No Anime Club this month due to our Fall Book Sale.

November Art: "Nature Scenes"

"Nature Scenes," Beverly Guild of Artists
November 2 - 29, 2015
This month, the main library will host a special exhibit of nature scenes by members of the Beverly Guild of Artists. The range of media will include oil/acrylic, watercolor, graphics, mixed media and photographs. Exhibitors include Mary Scannell, Ron Pruett, Anna Marie Walsh, Natalie Bacheller, Jody Blagden, Ed Krukonis, Katerina Gates, Paula J. Kulas, Amy McKenna, Claire Curtin, Debra Johnson, Ted Bidwell, Martha Lincoln, Anthony Constantino, Barbara Merriam, Andrea Clark, and Naomi Lee. The exhibit is free and open to the public during regular library hours, and when meetings or library programs are not in progress. Info: Robin at 978-921-6062 or [email protected].

Farms Branch Events
 
Fall Story Times at the Farms run Mondays through November 16. And please join us for these upcoming programs:
  • "Music with Dara" - Fri., November 6 and December 4 @ 10:45 AM 
  • "Gingerbread House Workshop" - Sat., December 5 @ 2 -3 PM. For kids 6 - 11 years. Please REGISTER in person or call 978-921-6066.
  • "Nutcracker Tea" - Sun., December 6 @ 12 - 2 PM. Our annual Open House - all welcome! Festive treats, live holiday music, visits from the Nutcracker, Sugar Plum Fairy, and Mrs. Santa Claus. Sponsored by the Friends of the Beverly Farms Library. 
And don't miss this month's art exhibit by the Kaleidoscope Photography Group, running from November 7 through November 28. All are invited to an Artists' Reception on Thursday, November 19 from 6:30 - 8:30 PM. The exhibit is free, and all are welcome.
