Fall Festival Relies on Parent Volunteers
URGENT NEED - VOLUNTEERS and EZ Up Tents FOR                           FALL FESTIVAL

Briarlake's 21st Annual Fall Festival is less than 2 weeks away and if we don't have enough volunteers, we may not be able to put on this event. Right now, we have 150 open slots to fill.

Please share just a couple of hours of your time and spend the day having fun with your family!

Volunteering for this event is FUN and the kids LOVE it. We have many different opportunities and the signup is organized by grade so you can meet and be with other parents in your child's grade.

And for your help, we have a little something extra to give back:

Shift Volunteers: Will receive (x10) extra tickets
All-Day Volunteers: Will receive (x10) extra tickets and a food voucher

We deeply appreciate your assistance!! Sign up no w
here,  or contact Sonya Tinsley-Hook or Emily Graybill if you have a tent you are willing to lend for the event.

Important Lakeside Cluster News:
Your Input Requested
Community input sessions on SPLOST V projects are currently underway.  At our most recent Lakeside Cluster Summit meeting, we agreed that our cluster will collectively  advocate for Henderson Mill Elementary School to be rebuilt.  Henderson Mill has the double distinction of being the most overcrowded elementary school in DeKalb County that does not have a plan to be rebuilt (at 138% capacity) with the lowest Facility Condition Assessment score (27 out of 100).

Reports from the first community input session indicate that, due to funding limitations, Henderson Mill Elementary is not included on the list of elementary schools to be rebuilt.  It will be important for our cluster to provide feedback at the community input sessions, and in the online survey, that Henderson Mill needs to be rebuilt.  The presentation for this meeting can be viewed  here, and handouts can be found using

The schedule for remaining community input sessions (which begin at 7:00pm) is:
* Oct. 11, 2016 at Miller Grove High School (Region 4)
Oct. 13, 2016 at Chamblee High School (Region 1)
Oct. 17, 2016 at Columbia High School (Region 5)
Oct. 18, 2016 at Stone Mountain High School (Region 3)

Please encourage your school communities to attend one of these sessions (they are all the same) and to advocate for Henderson Mill Elementary.  The online survey can be found at http://dcsdsplost.questionpro.com/ .  Use the comments section of the online survey, and the breakout sessions of the community input session, to add Henderson Mill Elementary as a school that needs to be rebuilt (note that the survey has been created to only allow one response from each participant).

Stay tuned for future updates on our Lakeside cluster's unified response to any proposed changes to our cluster's attendance zones. Our Lakeside cluster is committed to staying together and intact and is actively exploring solutions to help make that possible.

Sincerely,

Briarlake Elementary PTA
