Top Patti's Musings

OH MY GOSH!!!  It is September!  School has or is starting up depending on where you live, and the days are definitely getting a little shorter.  But that also means all those lovely fall things like fresh apple pies and caramel apples, meatloaf ( one of my favorite fall meals), the leaves turning colors, and for us here at Quilter's Destination, KAFFE!  Hopefully everyone knows by now that Kaffe Fassett and Brandon Mabley are coming to do a lecture and workshops in October.  Workshops are full with extensive waitlists and the lecture has also fille.  You are more than welcome to get on the waitlist for the lecture, but we cannot promise anything there.  We have been preparing like mad for this event!!  Making Kaffe quilts and cutting fabric and kits, etc!  In fact, we have been so busy with preparing for Kaffe as well as our fall vending events, we had to figure out how to fit fall class samples and our Holiday samples into our timeline!   What to do??  There are only so many hours in a day!

We had a brilliant idea!  Why not make our fall classes all about the holidays??  That way, our class samples ARE our holiday samples and vice versa!!  Plus, you guys get a chance to actually make those holiday decor or gift items EARLY so you don't have the mad rush before the holiday!  We thought that worked all the way around,so that is what we are doing!  This newsletter is all about Holiday / Winter decor and gifts you can make.  Some of the samples lend themselves to choosing other fabrics over holiday, but some do not and will require the kit featuring our holiday/seasonal fabric. Either way you win because you get it done early and learn something along the way!  Take a peek below for all the classes.....

We also have a new Monthly Quilt as You Go runner club!  It is called the Fast & Furious Club from GE Designs!  You know we love Gudrun, and she has designed this club to let everyone learn quilt-as-you-go techniques! See below for all the details and then sign-up!

And, we have a great new idea for embroidery!  We are planning and in-store embroidery retreat featuring Kimberbell's newest Holiday designs, "Jingle All the Way"!  Come spend a couple of days making beautiful embroidery designs into great projects!  All the kits, patterns, and lunch will be included!  We are still working out the dates for this one, but stay tuned!

There is lots of stuff going on in the shop this fall besides classes!  Just take a look at the events section of this newsletter!  Pillow Party Shop Hop in October, Friday Night Sew-ins are back, quilt shows, Great Stash Dash days, and more!

Part of our busy schedule this summer had us vending the Stitches Knitting show.  We had both a Janome booth as well as a quilt booth at that show.  We also put Horizon 9400s in the classrooms.  As many of you who have taken advantage of our offer know, we kept all the leftover 9400's and are selling them at $2499 for the classroom used models.  We still have a few left, so if you are interested, come in and get one before they are gone!  This deal will not be able to be repeated and a regular priced machine is much, much more!  All warranties are still valid and the machines have been very gently used for that weekend show (maybe 6 - 8 hours at most).  So, you get a great deal!  Come an' get em'!!

Another FYI, we won't be able to host our annual Halloween celebration this year. I'm sorry!  I will miss it!  But alas, I will just be back from quilt market and the timing was just not working.  However, all our Halloween fabrics will be 20% off beginning Thursday, Oct.26 thru Halloween (min half yd. cut)!!  So come on over for scary savings!

We do have lots planned for the next couple months.  We may even have more in the works that were not quite ready to publish, so stay tuned as we continue to plan more!  We will be adding more small giftable project classes (think NOT quilt) in November and December.  We are still working on these, so wait and see!  We will send an updated newsletter about those later in the fall once we know what we are doing!  But, there is alot ready, so take a look below and come in for a visit!  We'll be here waiting just for you!!  See You soon.....
