FALL IS HERE...SCHOOL IS IN FULL SWING...AND SO IS RIF OF NOVA!
What better way to kick off the fall than a birthday party! And it was a twofer!
National RIF is celebrating its 50th birthday this year...50 years of providing books to deserving children throughout the nation.
RIF of NOVA is not far behind at (almost) age 45! Liaisons from each of the 38 schools and sites served in the City of Alexandria and in Arlington, Fairfax, and Prince William counties joined RIF of NOVA board members to share success stories about book distributions, to note the impact of book ownership on area children, and to celebrate the many years of promoting literacy!

It was a great time to swap stories, get re-energized, and renew friendships. A great time -- as they say -- was had by all!

This Big Red Dog brought love and enthusiasm for books to the children at Fairfax's South County Center. With whiskers, black noses, and floppy red ears, the children greeted Clifford with “high fives,” hugs, and huge smiles. They eagerly showed him their new RIF selections. Clifford gave a special nod when he saw how many children had picked Clifford books which were available in English or Spanish. A few little ones, a bit scared by all that red fur, shared hugs and smiles with a smaller stuffed Clifford. Stories, red juice and cookies, and Clifford coloring sheets added to the festivities. Clifford left this book party very happy that these children were continuing to enjoy books during the summer months.
