Falmouth Wants a Y!

Friends, we have made great progress. And we need your help to move forward.

Thank you for spending a few minutes with us at a time of year when your inbox is already crowded with end of year opportunities for giving. We are passionate about bringing a YMCA to Falmouth and the Upper Cape and believe you are as well. Your help is needed in order to make this happen.

Where We Are and What's Next
Informal outreach points to favorable conditions for supporting a YMCA in Falmouth. To ensure sustainability, professional feasibility studies will provide solid data before shovels can be put in the ground. We can complete these studies only with the assistance of generous donations from people like you.
Here's what we need to do and what it will cost:
  • Step 1: Market Feasibility Study - $25,000
    • 600 phone interviews to test programs, services and price points
    • Feedback will inform a business pro forma
  • Step 2: Fundraising Feasibility Study - $35,000
    • Tests the donor market (are there enough current and prospective donors to support moving forward with a capital campaign?)
  • Step 3: Schematic Facility Plans - $35,000
    • Data from the market feasibility study drives what the facility will look like in terms of size and features. Facility plans will turn dreams of possibility into vision of reality for the future.
BIG news! We are more than halfway towards meeting our goal for Step 1 with over $13,000 raised to date.

Can you help us get to our goal of $25k?
No gift is too small
Granted, feasibility studies are not as thrilling as groundbreakings, buildings and filling the pool. But, it's the responsible next step. If you're able to help now, please do so by clicking the button below. Please be sure to choose "Falmouth Feasibility Study" when asked if you want your contribution to be used for a specific campaign.

PSA 2015
The Y. So much more than a gym and swim.

Background
In 2011, a handful of Falmouth residents approached YMCA Cape Cod about bringing a Y to the Upper Cape. Here's what we learned from initial research:
  • Community needs match the Y's mission: youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility
  • There is significant support for building a facility with a pool
  • And for a safe community center where youth, families, adults and seniors can connect
  • We intend to collaborate, partner, and convene with schools, other non-profits and community organizations to complement and enhance services where there are identified gaps as opposed to competing or duplicating efforts.
What We've Done So Far
  • Community Leader Survey, Focus Groups and Open Forums
  • Partnership with North Falmouth Congregational Church offering affordable early childhood care services
  • Collaboration with Falmouth Service Center for Diabetes Education & Prevention
  • We now have over 1300 community volunteers and supporters!
Other FWAY committee members are:
    • Laura Lincoln
    • Andrew Borgese
    • Jane Murphy
    • Maryann Piccirilli
    • Joanne Treistman
    • Marie Younger-Blackburn
    • Janice Kinder

Our Upper Cape Y will be a branch of YMCA Cape Cod in West Barnstable. Thanks to our staff Stacie Peugh, CEO; PJ Richardson, Chief Resource Development Officer; & Laura Prisco, COO for their guidance, support, and shared passion.
We celebrate the Y's first 50 years and plan to be a part of the next 50.
