SportFest 2016 will be September 17th, 2016 at the Servus Sports Centre.  The new location means more room for more interactive exhibitors!  New this year will be 'Come try it' areas, as well as a sporting equipment 'Swap and Buy', a roving gym, and much more!  Exhibitor registration is now open,  but only for a limited time!  For more information and to register, visit our website:

Tour of Alberta presented by ATB Financial
On September 1st 2016, Lethbridge will play host to the first stage of the 2016 Tour of Alberta, presented by ATB Financial. The race will begin in Galt Gardens at 4:50 p.m. and is expected to end between 7-8 p.m., featuring elite cyclists from around the world. The route will see competitors race from downtown, north on Scenic Drive to Peenaquim Park. They will then take on the challenging climb up and out of the river valley to get back to downtown. The 107 km race will consist of nine laps through this circuit finishing in Galt Gardens.

Family Cycling Day
Come down to the Crossings Shopping Centre (Aquitania Blvd and Whoop Up Dr)on Tuesday August 30th for some cycling fun! There will be a bike rodeo for the kids, a bike scavenger hunt for all ages, pro riders will be on hand for autographs and photos, there will be tons of great prizes and so much more!   All activities are FREE!

Prizes include:  9 Bikes!  75 Helmets! BBQ! Tour of Alberta VIP passes! Gift Cards!  Frisbees!  Water Bottles!  and more!!!

Bike-in Movie night in the Park
Bring your family and friends by bicycle to this FREE outdoor movie night in the park, featuring a selection of short films about cycling. Relax on the lawn and enjoy free popcorn and drinks while watching great cycling stories come to life on the big screen. Plus we will have some amazing prizes!!!

Fee Assistance Program
The City of Lethbridge has created a  Fee   Assistance  Program to ease financial barrier that would otherwise prevent low-income residents from having access to local recreation and culture activities. Applicants who meet eligibility requirements may receive  fee   assistance  of up to $150 per person per season for a maximum of one program in the Spring (Jan-June) and Fall (July-Dec) programming seasons (Maximum $300 per calendar year).
  • For all ages
  • Individuals can use this programming towards arts, culture, recreation and sport opportunities
  • Individuals qualify for up to $150 in the first half of the year and $150 in the second half of the year
  • Funding can be combined with KidSport and/or Jumpstart for programs and individuals that qualify
Qualifying programs must be a minimum of 4 days/program in length (can be used for camps). 

To access this program, individuals must:
  • Fill out the application found HERE 
  • Provide proof of City of Lethbridge residency (utility bill, bank statement, government issued mail showing name and address)
  • Have proof of qualifying income status (see application for Low Income Cut Offs)

Fall Sports Registration!
With summer coming to an end, school is starting up and so is registration for fall sports! We are making it easier to keep track of where and when to register kids in fall sports through our blog, which will contain up to date information on registration for fall programs!

How is Technology Shaping the Preschool Brain?
This event is an opportunity for parents, caregivers, or education professionals to listen to Dr. Kelly Dean Schwartz from the University of Calgary discuss how adults can positively model and shape technology use during early childhood.
