The Family Development Credential Program is a professional development and credentialing program that provides frontline family workers with the knowledge and skills they need to coach families to set and reach their own goals for healthy
self-reliance in their communities. The program focuses on a strength-based partnership approach that develops workers both professionally and personally.

Training feedback:
  • Great job. Very prepared. Appreciated the attention to detail and providing all of the materials and support.
  • The mixture of activities with lecture kept folks engaged.
  • Well-balanced curriculum materials; practical exercises; reflective.
  • I liked all aspects of the training: format, logistics, delivery, comradery, group dynamics, opportunities to practice and share insights, being ok and supported with feeling vulnerable, facilitator approach: humor and willingness to listen and help us through some difficult conversations/questions.

Training Location:
Sacramento Employment and Training Agency Head Start
925 Del Paso Blvd., Suite 100
Sacramento, CA 95815

Registration includes a three-day facilitator/instructor training in the FDC Program by a master facilitator. After the Institute, the master facilitator will co-facilitate a minimum of two classes with the facilitator trainee at their agency, observing and providing mentor coaching, critiquing the instructor's teaching and portfolio reviews, and will provide up to eight phone support sessions (more depending on need) throughout the duration of the course. Individuals who successfully complete both the classroom and field training program will be certified and recognized as official FDC instructors and be allowed to teach the course on their own. If additional trainees participate from the same agency, they will be included in the coaching/mentoring cohort. To be clear, this training will NOT earn you the Family Development Credential.  It will certify you to facilitate (teach) the 90 hour course and review portfolios that leads to earning the credential.
