Family Fun, Painting and the Provider
of the Year

Hello friends,

Things never seem to slow down here at Rainbow Fleet and we wouldn't have it any other way! We have lots of news to report this month, so lets dive right in.

Cara Anderson

First, congratulations to Cara Anderson who was recently

recognized by the National Association for Family Child Care as its 2014 family child care provider of the year. What a tremendous honor, and one that is certainly well deserved!

Next, have you joined the Oklahoma Professional Development Registry? DHS Child Care Services has developed the registry as a way to help providers find state-approved training opportunities, document completed training and plan education and career goals. If you're interested in the registry, give us a call. We'll be happy to help you sign up.

If you haven't been by the office lately you should make a point to come and visit. We're in the middle of a "sprucing up" project at Rainbow Fleet headquarters and things are looking good! It's amazing what a fresh coat of paint can do to liven up a room. Come by to check it out - we might even put a paintbrush in your hand.

Lastly, our partners in child wellness have a few events this month that you should know about.

The Oklahoma County Immunization Coalition will be hosting its annual child care provider seminar on Oct. 9 from 6:30-9 pm. The two-hour seminar will be held at the NE Wellness Campus, 400 NE 50th St. in Oklahoma City. This is always an interesting and informative event.

Are you looking for fun and free family entertainment? The Wellness Now Coalition is sponsoring a Family Fun Night Oct. 16 from 5:30-8:30 pm. This is a community event with movies, food trucks, health screenings, cooking demonstrations, flu shots and more. Check it out at the Northeast Regional Health and Wellness Center, 2600 NE 63rd Street in Oklahoma City.

Have a great fall and thanks for reading,

Carrie

P.S.

I have been appointed to OSU-Oklahoma City's Early Care Education Academic Program Advisory Committee. Let me know if you have any ideas or suggestions for curriculum, academic standards, etc. and I'll pass the information along to the committee.
