From the Office of Student Life

Virtue of the Week:  Resolve
The virtue of the week is Resolve. Resolve is the strength to firmly decide on a course of action and stick to it and so we pray...Lord God help us to resolve to be the best we can be in all we do; from our studies here at school to our involvement with activities and sports after school. Help us commit to follow the course of action you have planned for us with open hearts and minds. Help us also to resolve to be better sons and daughters, brothers and sisters and friends; so that all who meet us know that we are your light in the world. We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen.

Skill of the Week:  Respect for All (Week #2)
Respect for All - Our first expectation of a Cavalier is to be Respectful.
It is very important to be respectful toward adults, our peers, and ourselves as this skill will lead to success now and later in life. We would like to focus the next couple of weeks on respecting our teachers and all staff members here at the Castle. If any adult in the building addresses a student, the student needs to:

1. Stop what they are doing
2. Come to the staff member and listen to what they have to say
3. Then use the skill of following instructions

Remember your parents have placed the staff and teachers in charge of you during the day so respecting all staff members is like respecting your parents. If we want to make Purcell Marian the best it can be, then we all need to have respect for each other.

Policy Focus of the Week - Late to Class
A reminder to all students, you have 3 minutes to get to class on time. If you are late and do not have a note from a teacher you will be given a consequence.   If a teacher keeps you a minute or two after the bell rings make sure to ask for a note. Students should finish all quizzes and other assessments after school not after class. We want to avoid students being more than a couple minutes late to their next class.

Student Merits
We will be highlighting a few students who earned merits each week.  Below are some students who were caught doing something good last week:

Mrs. Reasoner  a warded Dawson Irizarry a merit for his work in the main office as a work study student. Dawson received a compliment from a caller to the school who commented on his politeness and professionalism. Way to represent the Castle, Dawson!

Mrs. Knox awarded Ta'Jae Hankerson a merit for her good work in the classroom. "She participates in class, asks great questions, and is very focused," says Mrs. Knox.

Coach David Brown awarded Haden Ball a merit for his generosity towards another student.  Coach Brown witnessed Haden paying for a new student's out of uniform pass. Once Haden discovered the student didn't have enough money to pay for the out of uniform, he offered to pay for him without hesitation and insisted that he did not need to pay him back. Thank you, Haden!
