TJMS is proud to celebrate
Black History Month
recognizing and honoring the contributions of African Americans. Did you know that Black History Month originally began as “Negro History Week” in 1926 created by Carter G. Woodson. In 1976, it became a nationally recognized month-long celebration. The month of February was chosen to coincide with the birthdays of Frederick Douglass and Abraham Lincoln.
This month we will have several opportunities for students and staff to celebrate, acknowledge, and learn about Black History. Our Black History assembly is scheduled for February 22, 2018 @ 1:42 PM.

We look forward to celebrating this important month with students and families!
Kindest regards,
FACE Action Team
