Welcome Jennifer!

We are delighted to welcome Jennifer Green to FPM as a Case Manager for our shelter program!

Jennifer brings professional experience as a Social Worker and a graduate degree from Boston College as well as a passion for addressing the issue of family homelessness.

Jennifer brings professional experience as a Social Worker and a graduate degree from Boston College as well as a passion for addressing the issue of family homelessness. She is also an active member of her community which is evident through her volunteering in the schools, with the aging and at Temple Beth Shalom, one of our support congregations. Jennifer is a wonderful addition to our staff and we look forward to the support she will bring to our families as they transition out of homelessness.

Our Current Families
Congratulations to Eva, Melvin and Jadiel who moved to their new apartment in Marlborough last month! We wish them much luck and will continue to stay in touch as they are now a part of our transitional housing family.

We would like to extend a warm welcome to Carlos, Daisy and Amber (3) who joined FPM a few weeks ago.

On Columbus Day all families had the opportunity to visit Lookout Farm (Natick) thanks to a generous donation. The families got to enjoy hayrides, munch on mouthwatering apple cider donuts, apple pick and play in the pumpkin patch.

Led by Buddy Baker Smith and Janet Hamilton, six students from throughout New England, were introduced to our program and used the Common Street Church kitchen to prepare dinner forour families. The team prepared succulent meatloaf, melt-in-your-mouth macaroni and cheese, mixed greens and homemade brownies with M&Ms. The meal was well received by all guests who especially enjoyed the candy coated brownies!

We offer our deepest thanks to these dedicated youth for choosing Family Promise for their day of service.

  Congregational Connections

It is always a pleasure for members of our staff, Board of Directors and former guests to be invited to our network congregations as it is a chance to offer our appreciation and celebrate the success of our mission together.

Recently Mike Donoghue, Chair of the Board spoke at Peace Lutheran in Wayland, Sue Crossley and former guest Eve spoke at Pilgrim Church in Sherborn and Judy Mongiardo and past guest Yusuf spoke at Congregational Church of Needham.

Please contact Judy (judy@familypromisemetrowest.org) if you would like us to a schedule a visit to your congregation.

Grateful to Gardengate!

Gardengate Academy, directed by Gabriela Maza, offers an array of educational opportunities for children in Natick. Partnered with FPM, Gardengate has given scholarships to preschoolers in our program who have enjoyed morning classes two days a week.

The older children in Meredith Passey's after school program are exploring non-profits and service to the community. On September 29, Judy Mongiardo (FPM Network Coordinator) was invited to speak to their groups. Children considered the possible causes of homelessness; what it would feel like to leave one's home, and how the volunteers at FPM are making a difference. They are excited about our April Walkathon and hoping to participate!

We at Family Promise Metrowest are grateful for this valuable resource in our local community.

Musically Inclined?

Strike up the Band of Natick is looking for community members to participate and play in their fun family concert on Sunday, January 4. All proceeds directly benefit FPM.

To prepare for the concert, rehearsals will take place throughout the upcoming months.  To learn more, contact wendyrobbins@gmail.com or stop by 5 Washington Street, Natick.
