Your members of Congress will be home next week -- tell them how the Farm Bill can help school children!
The Farm Bill is a critical opportunity to create policies that can help deliver affordable, regionally grown food to schools. The Senate passed their version of the Bill on June 21 at a vote of 64-35.
The House Agriculture Committee is expected to introduce their version of the bill into committee on or about July 11. Next week, your members of Congress will be in their home districts attending parades, picnics, and other public events. This is a perfect opportunity to have a quick, face-to-face conversation about the importance of the Farm Bill to the health of our nation's school children.
Take Action!
When you see your Congress member at a local event, ask them to:
- Protect and fully fund programs like SNAP (food stamps) and the Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Program, both of which are critical to the health of school children.
- Support local food production by protecting and fully funding Rural Development programs and keeping the definition of "local" in the hands of local policy makers.
THANK YOU FOR TAKING ACTION!
Please feel free to forward this alert to your networks.
