Farm to School

We are delighted to have received renewed support from the Nirvana Maņana Institute towards Farm to School Educational Activities in 2013!  In years past, this support has allowed Farm to Table to provide trainings and direct resources to Farm to School related projects; to-date totaling $26,000 to 32 projects throughout New Mexico!

Farm to Restaurant will be hosting our annual production-planning meeting on Wednesday, February 20th. If you've been thinking about participating in Farm to Restaurant, this is a great way to get started. For more information, please contact Nina.

Greetings!

The new year is off to a great start at Farm to Table. We've spent the month busily beginning the 2013 legislative session, getting ready for the Organic Farming Conference, and celebrating various programs through farm tours, fundraisers, and community action days.

February is bringing with it some fantastic events and important Food Policy days. Read below to see how you can participate!

Farm to Table at the Legislature

Our Healthy Kids - Healthy Economy initiative, has been introduced as SB 80: New Mexico-Grown Produce for School Meals. This bill will be heard in the Senate Education Committee on February 6 at 8:00 a.m. in room 311.

   

Farm to Table is also supporting HB 33: Community Health Needs Assessments this will provide $1.1 million in funding to county and tribal health councils to conduct community health assessments and community health plans.  

   

Join Farm to Table at the Roundhouse on the following dates in February:

  • February 6: Student Nutrition Day!
  • February 19: Rocky Mountain Farmers' Union Drive-In!

Thank you to everyone who came out for our first annual NM Food and Farms Day at the Legislature on January 25th. It was a wonderful success with both HB 100: Develop and Promote Farmers Markets and HB56: Statewide Cohesive Food Infrastructure passing their first committee hearings that morning.
