The New Mexico Food and Agriculture Policy Council
We are moving forward and meeting with enthusiasm on our Healthy Kids - Healthy Economy legislation, with Senator Pete Campos as our sponsor. This legislation is for a $1.44 million appropriation for New Mexico-grown produce for school meals. Our latest hearing was in the Legislative Education Study Committee where Senator Linda Lopez and Representative "Bobby" Gonzales were very encouraged by our presentation and see ways to tie our initiative to student nutrition education and school garden projects!
Learn more about NM Policy Council here.
January 21 is Healthy Farms - Healthy New Mexicans Day at the Legislature Join Farm to Table and others in celebrating the many ways we connect locally grown farm products to the health of our citizens through schools, farmers markets, grocery stores and more. The event is from 8:00am - noon, at the Roundhouse!
F arm to Table also works to improve child nutrition through our Farm to School and Farm to Cafeteria Programs! |
