Kamm's Corners Farmers Market Opens on
Sunday June 10

Kamm's Corners Farmers Market begins its 12th summer of farm fresh food offerings on Sunday, June 10. Pick up goods at the market every Sunday thereafter, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the municipal parking lot behind Walgreens at West 168th Street and Albers Avenue.

Also enjoy a cooking demo at 11:30 a.m. by garden-to-table restaurant, AMP 150. Live music is performed, too, including every style from blues to ballads and swamp poppin' rock! See the complete market schedule, here.

Click here for information about the new limited edition cookbook available that day until supplies run out. Don't delay in getting your copy of "Good Eating from Fabulous Foodies." It's filled with tips and recipes gathered from our shoppers, volunteers, and farmers. The cost is $10, and ALL proceeds benefit Kamm's Corners Farmers Market.

This summer, the Produce Perks for people using the Ohio Direction Card increases to $20, up from the previous $10 match. Stop by the Information tent at the market entrance to use your Ohio Direction Card. For every dollar spent, $1 in market tokens will be provided up to $20. So, a $20 purchase becomes $40 in healthy farm fresh fruit and vegetable produce.

Debit and credit cards are also accepted. Stop by the information tent for details -- and to purchase our new cookbook!

Please join an Impett Park beautification initiative taking place on Saturday, June 9, put together by the Friends of West "Parks," a group of residents. The clean-up begins at 9 a.m. Meet the neighbors who are gathering under the gazebo next to the parking lot to join forces with rakes, gloves, and a love for the park. The aim is to spruce up Impett Park to make it more attractive to neighborhood families. Refreshments will be served.

If you are on Facebook, see the event page and join up there at this link. For more information, contact Diane Dunleavy at dunleavydiane@yahoo.com or Karen Cocita at Karencocita@AOL.com.

Local businesses are offering a new program for the summer called "West Park Walk on Wednesdays" (West Park WOW). It began on May 23 with a fine turnout and continues the second and fourth Wednesday of each month throughout the summer. The walks begin at 6:30 p.m. in front of a new location each time.

The next one is on June 13, and begins at the West Park Family YMCA, 15501 Lorain Avenue. Dr. Neil Smith, President, Fairview Hospital will lead the group to the West Park Branch of the Cleveland Public Library, 3805 West 157th Street, and then to Only in Clev, 17025 Lorain Avenue. Round trip, this walk covers about 1.2 miles on level ground.

Business owners at each stop will have a moment to introduce their businesses and offer a coupon, demonstration, or a taste to educate walkers about their products or services. The larger educational component is that each walk will include a local professional or specialist walking along with the group, either answering questions or presenting information. Examples are a doctor, police officer, firefighter, historian, councilman, KCDC representative, etc.

Cleveland Clinic Fairview Hospital, the West Park Family YMCA, Kamm's Corners Development, and the local merchants have come together to encourage exercise while educating local residents on subjects of interest as well as introducing them to local merchants they may not have visited. Already the walks are attracting a wide range of residents interested in learning more about their neighborhood while meeting some neighbors and achieving fitness goals.

See the route and additional details, here. Join us!
