Special Services Spotlight

Afterschool Programs
Each month, Special Services will highlight a participant or program that showcases the community. This month, we shine a light on Veena Thamilselvan, a talented member of the After School Program.

A student at East Middle School,
Veena Thamilselvan
participates in various Special Services activities.

From the creative writing program Youthful of Stories and The Nature Club to helping out with bake sales, Veena does a great job of being active and involved in her community. When asked how the After School Youth Center has affected her, Veena said that the programs have made her better and have given her a chance to meet different people and begin new experiences.

Veena also excels in her student life,
and recently won five medals when she participated in a Science Olympiad. She showed skill and knowledge in numerous areas including Meteorology and Experimental Design. Veena plans on becoming a doctor and joining Doctors Without Borders, an organization that works to help people worldwide where the need is greatest, by delivering emergency medical aid to people affected by conflict, epidemics, disasters or exclusion from health care. Special Services is happy to highlight Veena's achievements.
