Greetings & Happy Valentine's Day, President's Day & (most of all) MARDI GRAS!

Please be aware that we are OPEN next Monday, February 16th.

It has been an exciting 2015 for us thus far (so exciting, in fact, that we forgot to send a January newsletter)! In any case, we are very proud to announce our second studio expansion, into Unit V. This new area is still under construction, but is becoming a delightful space, featuring a large room that is primarily being used for our Infant, Toddler & Preschooler group music classes. We also have 2 new private lesson teaching rooms in the space, bringing us to a new capacity of over 9 teaching spaces (that's 3 times the size of when we first opened)!



Now that we are equipped with new space, we are expanding various group music-making programs, including our Ukulele Club on Monday evenings and our Infant, Toddler & Preschooler Classes (typically in the mornings). We are excited to also offer NEW programs, including additional ensembles (Jazz, Rock & Pop) and a open mic/jam sessions. 

Winter Concert Photos Are On Facebook

A huge thanks to all of the participants (both performers & audience members) of our Winter Concert back in December! We had yet another record-breaking program. This time it was 3 rooms, filled with 165 performances from solo students, Music Time staff, various group programs (including Ukulele Club, String Ensemble, East Avenue Rock Band & our own Music Time Rock Band). What a day! And congrats to all of the raffle winners, including Isabel Obaob, the grand prize winner of 6 months free music lessons!

An extremely dedicated pianist, Dakota is awarded Student of the Month for February. Dakota has been on our radar for this honor for quite some time, continuously demonstrating vast improvements through his hard work and focus as a piano student for over two years (after he switched to piano from previously playing percussion at Granada High School). 

Dakota's versatility has also made him stand out to our staff. You might recognize him from rocking out with our student band at the past three concerts (jamming on pop and rock tunes from the 80s to the present), but I bet you didn't know that his favorite song is Toccata in D Minor! Keep up the great work, Dakota!

Teacher Feature
Joesph Buzzard is our featured teacher for this month. We are thrilled to have him join our staff at the beginning of 2015, teaching saxophone on Fridays. 

A graduate of the Armed Forces School of Music, Joe served in the United States Army Band for nine years. He worked as a saxophonist for jazz combos, big bands, concert bands and ceremonial bands, performing for many foreign dignitaries and U.S. officials. Mr. Buzzard was presented various awards, including the Army Achievement Medal and the Army Commendation Medal. 

Joseph has had over 2,000 live musical performances around the United States alone. He currently performs with West Grand Boulevard, Radio Keys, and The Hip Kid Collective at weddings, clubs and notable music venues around the Bay Area, including the Boom Boom Room, Slim's, and Biscuits and Blues. Joe also takes great pleasure in performing with the Los Medanos College Jazz Ensemble, Gospel Choir, and various Jazz Combo groups as he currently pursues an Associate of Arts Degree in Music at Los Medanos College. He studies privately under the highly regarded saxophonist and educator, Michael Zilber. Joe is also the founder and the President of the Los Medanos College Jazz Society.
