Here Comes The Nexus Revolution!

How Google's Nexus series of phones and tablets can cause major disruption in the telecom, technology and e-commerce industries this year.

A few months back, Google released its arsenal of android devices called the 'Nexus series'. This included a smartphone (Nexus 4), a 7" tablet (Nexus 7) and a 10" tablet (Nexus 10) along with several variants. These devices offer the best android experience available, in beautifully designed hardware, at a price point that could only be made possible by heavy subsidies from Google. Within days of the launch, Google's Nexus inventory proudly went 'out of stock' with millions waiting desperately in line to place an order. If this is any indication, we can be sure that these devices will be in the hands of a significant percentage of gadget lovers across the nation by this year and that might lead to the buildup of a critical mass that could well cause several disruptions in the future. Google and its manufacturing partners have already started beefing up manufacturing capacity and have updated their demand planning estimates. Read More.

Sanjiv Sinha EDITOR'S COMMENTS:  Sanjiv Sinha (IITR E&C '89) is starting a journey to bring you favorite recipes from your campuses. He is starting with Roorkee, and next stop is Kharagpur. Join Sanjiv in discussions on the recipe in LinkedIn by clicking on  http://tinyurl.com/acergzq. And if there is a favorite recipe of yours that you want Sanjiv to explore, just contact him at sanjiv@yellowrickshaw.com.

Though Sanjiv Sinha specializes in Enterprise Software Sales, his passion lies in cooking. The lack of basic cooking skills in the US and all the health related problems that result from it disturb him greatly. He blogs regularly at foodydoody.wordpress.com and is working on creating opportunities for people to be better prepared to take control of their lives through food. When he is not helping companies sell software or cooking, he can be found spending time with his family, on long runs or playing with his band

Nostalgia is a funny thing. It can make even polyester shirts appear cool! So it was with some trepidation that I ordered a Bun Om, Bun Omelette for the uninitiated, at the Bhatia Tea Stall at Roorkee in Dec 2011 - about 22 years after graduating. Bhatia's was the go-to place for us who went to Roorkee in the 80s through the mid-90s for late night/early morning nourishment. Bhatia Sahab's Banana Shakes and Bun Oms nourished many of us through our years at IIT (University of Roorkee at the time). But this was before the fences went up. Read More.
