It's been awhile since our last newsletter, and a lot has happened. Despite the lingering effects of sequestration and layoffs across much of the Intel/Defense market, new clients are engaging us to help them fill funded opportunities in this area. We've also expanded into the commercial software market and now have opportunities in both the DC and Boston metro areas. There's even a new software development project with a civilian federal client. We hope you enjoy this update, and please tell your friends about us - we've paid out an increased number of our $5,000 referral bonuses recently and would like to keep that trend growing!

A former candidate of ours founded what is now a very well-funded, growing, NoSQL Database product firm. This is definitely leading edge work, and they are out in front of the NoSQL database pack, with some very strong VCs behind them. We're working to help them hire a number of Software Engineers in Boston/Cambridge (specialists in Database Internals as well as specialists in Database Security), and we're also searching for a cleared Pre-Sales Engineer with NoSQL / Hadoop experience in the DC area.
Our client is one of the world's top open-source intelligence firms, providing threat prevention and mitigation services around the globe. They are profitable and growing, and they are investing in a complete rebuilding of their core SaaS product to enter new markets. We're working to help them find a Java / J2EE Software Product Engineer in Herndon, VA. They are specifically looking for someone who has built commercial software products previously and who has good experience with RESTful Web Services. This is an especially exciting opportunity because the entire product is being rearchitected and rebuilt from the ground up.
Our client has sole-source access to a Network Intelligence Analysis opportunity on one of the most mission-driven programs in the IC.  This is a Subject Matter Expert firm that liaisons between the intelligence mission and technical resources on the team. They are seeking someone with excellent communication skills, knowledge of network protocols, a general understanding of application, network, and physical layers, and also experience in an object-oriented programming language (Python, Ruby, Java, C++, .NET, etc.) to work with both highly-technical and non-technical staff and be the person who helps translate between them. This is a huge opportunity to help a key mission succeed, and available only through our client.
We have two small innovative clients that have immediate hiring options in CNO/CNE Tools Development for fully-cleared Engineers.  One position is in Maryland and involves both low-level Windows and high-level (Ruby, Java, etc.) language development: we're seeking a senior software engineer who can work in both of those areas.  The second position is in Virginia and requires a deep understanding of Mac OSX.  We also have lots of other fully-cleared Cyber/CNO opportunities, with more on the way.  This is our hottest area in the IC/DoD.
We just started working with this company a few months ago, and we've been impressed. They build Hardware / Software products for the US Intelligence & Defense Community, typically as a prime contractor. The work they do is quick reaction capability (QRC) product development. Some products are built in days, others in months, with most being 2-4 week efforts. They have done over 140 of these in the last 4 years for the IC/DoD, and they have never failed to meet a deadline. They also work on embedded development and CNO programs, and they have their own SCIF. 15% to your 401K doesn't hurt. They hire fully cleared experts in hardware engineering, reverse engineering of hardware, embedded software development, and reverse engineering of software. RTOS and embedded Linux are frequently involved. In addition to Engineers, we're also searching for a Business Development & Capture Lead for them.
We've started working with a very well-known R&D Lab in the Boston/Cambridge area and are helping them find and hire Members of their Technical Staff who have deep expertise in Embedded Software Development, specifically in low-level Linux. You don't need a clearance for this work, but you must be a US citizen, as you'll be sponsored for a clearance over time. Existing clearances are nice of course!
If you are in the IC/DoD Cyber world, you know what we're talking about. Rest assured that regardless of which firms win the next set of Task Orders, we can help you get access to all that work.  We have excellent companies as clients on every team, and we can even get you in front of a few primes if you prefer larger companies.  If you are interested in this upcoming work, let's talk.
A long-time client of ours has been tasked with re-engineering the critical mission system of a civilian federal agency, from scratch. This is brand new custom development - no maintenance. The tech stack includes Java, JavaEE, RESTful services, Spring, Hibernate, SOAP, JUnit, OO JavaScript frameworks, JSUnit, JSLint, JSMin, HTML5, CSS3, XML, JSON, continuous integration platforms, and other technologies while following an Agile development process. They have achieved 95% staff retention at this company - they are doing something right. They need both JavaScript /UI Developers and Server-Side Java Developers on this team in Alexandria, VA. You don't need a clearance, but you have to be a US citizen because going through a clearance process may be required in the future.
We have other opportunities than the ones listed above, and we are always interested in meeting and getting to know the best people in our target markets, regardless of whether they are currently seeking change. We are happy to say that our $5,000 referral bonus program continues to grow. You can see all of our current opportunities on newly redesigned website - keep those good referrals coming!
