Outstanding Student
A Denver Kids student for six years, Legacy appreciates her Educational Counselor, Darla, for always pushing her to 'do better' while also celebrating her accomplishments. Though Legacy has been active in Step competitions, cheerleading, and choir, she has struggled at times with having the same level of focus on her academics. Together, Darla and Legacy have developed strategies and solutions to address attendance issues, incomplete coursework, respectful communication, and positive decision-making. Now a senior at Emily Griffith High School, Legacy is laying the foundation for her future - and it's a bright one. She has goals to become a chef - Legacy loves to cook and wants to make people happy through her culinary creations. With graduation right around the corner, Legacy is determined to not let anything hold her back and is ready to take advantage of every opportunity. In fact, Denver Kids recently connected Legacy with Executive Chef Jeff Bolton of the Sage Restaurant Group who offered to let her shadow him in his restaurant's kitchen. She was ecstatic to learn how a kitchen is run, how staff interacts, and all the work that goes into making a meal. "It really opened my eyes and reconfirmed that this is really what I want to do!" shared Legacy. Following graduation, Legacy plans to earn an Associate's Degree in business and then attend culinary school.
