February Newsletter

Being on the Board as the Professional Development Director allows me to implement great events and classes for our chapter members.  It is our endeavor to offer creative and informative ways to help inspire, grow and support career and have some fun with your fellow members.

Our upcoming events,  "Date with a Designer" will take place in Sacramento. February 6th and in  Las Vegas February 10th,  affording designers from both areas the opportunity to participate.  The ideas behind the event is to promote the ASID brand by matching our skilled professionals with potential clients to demonstrate, hands on, the value of hiring a designer.
What's in it for you?
· Promote yourself as an prestigious ASID Designer
· An opportunity to gain new clients
· Expose the public to the importance of hiring an ASID Designer
· A fun experience with your peers

Our very own Stephen Leon, Allied ASID wrote a fantastic article in the  Las Vegas Review Journal promoting this event and educating the public on our industry.  Please take a few minutes to read his article below and send Stephen your kudos for representing us so well.

If you are interested in being one of our prestigious designers for "Date with a Designer" and would like the details on how it all works contact me at, [email protected]

Have a great day designing.

Robert Stanley, ASID
Passed Away

Robert Stanley was a registered residential interior designer and life- long member of ASID.  He served the Palm Springs area for 20 years, (1974-1994) creating beautiful interiors and designing custom furniture for his clientele.  He and his wife, Sheila, relocated to Las Vegas in 1995, establishing Stanley and Associates, where he continued to design homes and develop his passion for photography from 1995 to 2015.  He was well liked instructor at the International Academy of Design and Technology for 4 years, sharing his wisdom and knowledge with students of all ages.
Robert and Sheila recently semi-retired to Belize and opened Window Fashions LTD, offering window treatments, interior design and custom furniture.  Sadly, after enjoying almost a year out of the country, Robert passed away suddenly Christmas evening, 2015.
He was a wonderful mentor and asset to the design community and will be deeply missed.

Hiring a Professional Designer Can Be Worth the Cost.

By Stephen Leon, Allied ASID
Focus on Furniture- Las Vegas Review Journal

Before too long, the bare trees will again show signs of life as new buds begin their irrepressible march to the surface, gardening tools will again be on display and homeowners will begin to take a look around and do some hard thinking about home improvement projects and decorating ideas that had long been put on hold.

Some will decide that they can do it themselves and will jump headlong into the fray.  Others will realize the best way to proceed with their project(s) is to find and hire a professional interior designer to help bring their dreams to fruition.

Either way, it's a big step.  But with all things considered, what could possibly be more fundamental as well as cost-effective than to have a professional on board to guide you toward making the best choices for furniture design, fabrics, backgrounds and a host of other decisions?
