Our 2016 Programs and Activities
Mid Coast Connect will be expanding services in 2016 so we will be able to provide even more programs, activities and greater support to assist young people with their transition through school and into further education, training and employment.

Here's a snapshot of what's planned for the year.
School Leaver Support
Mid Coast Connect can provide advice and individual assistance to school leavers to help them enter education and training courses or obtain employment.  Referrals can be made directly to us or from schools.
Our mentoring program provides ongoing support for students undertaking a school-based traineeship as part of their HSC.  We provide assistance with balancing the demands of school, work and home.
Our team coordinates industry placements for students studying vocational courses as part of their HSC; as well as providing work readiness workshops for students and host employer support.  This year we will have over 2700 placements to coordinate in 13 industry areas, from South West Rocks to Tea Gardens.
Mid Coast Connect is a registered Group Training Organisation, providing administration services and support for employers as well as apprentices and trainees.  Vacancies are advertised on our website throughout the year.
Mid Coast Careers Market
This year's event will be held on Tuesday 10 May from 10am - 2pm at the Port Macquarie Racecourse.   The event is open to the public as well as schools scheduled throughout the day. Exhibitor registrations are now available through our website.
Links to Learning
The Wauchope High School leadership program for students in Years 9/10 continues this year.
Trade Readiness
A number of TAFE based programs in Construction, Automotive and Engineering will be delivered throughout the region to provide an introduction to the industry for school leavers.
Girls Can Too!
This hands-on program allows girls to spend the day working in trade-based facilities with female role models; raising awareness of the opportunities in non-traditional occupations.
Hospitality, Tourism & Events Showcase
Our one-day program of presentations and practical workshops is held at Port Macquarie TAFE in June for up to 200 Year 10 students from across the region.
This industry awareness project is incorporated into Agriculture classes and involves farmers lending poddy calves to schools during Terms 2.   Schools registrations are now open
Education Funds - Macleay Valley, Great Lakes and Hastings
Each of the three locally based funds provide financial support for school leavers each year. Applications open in September.
Apprenticeship & Traineeship Preparation Programs
Care Connect - awareness, preparation and employment program for school-based traineeships in Aged Care, Health & Disability Services

Pharmacy Connect - awareness, preparation and employment program for Indigenous traineeships in Community Pharmacy

Hospitality Connect - pre-apprenticeship program for apprentice chefs

Thank you Events 2015
Thank you to all our wonderful supporters!
Late last year, MId Coast Connect held our annual 'Thank You' events across the service region to celebrate the contributions and support provided by education and training providers, businesses, service providers and community organisations. As always, these events provided a fantastic opportunity for us to personally thank people for their help as well as providing a networking opportunity for those in attendance.  If you missed attending , look out for an invitation to the 2016 event later in the year.
