Baltimore Teacher Supply Swap

Location: 1224 Wicomico Street, Baltimore
Every year, teachers and families spend a significant amount of money on supplies to help students learn. Meanwhile, stockpiles of perfectly good supplies get thrown away or go to waste when they're no longer needed. The Teacher Supply Swap equips teachers and families with educational supplies by repurposing supplies others no longer need. The goal is to reduce the financial burden on teachers and families by redirecting unwanted supplies into their hands. Click

Mailbox Cubbies for Valentine's Day
Ronald McDonald House of Baltimore
Date/Time: Open seven days a week, 9am - 9pm
Location: 635 W. Lexington St., Baltimore
Each family has a mailbox/cubby that can be stuffed with gifts from the community. It's such a wonderful treat for the families to see their cubbies filled with goodies when they come back from the hospital - it really brightens their day! Be creative. Think of something you would like to receive or something you would want to send to a loved one. Here are some examples of great cubby stuffers:
- Handmade Gifts: If you're feeling crafty, make stuffed animals, picture frames, greeting cards or any other creations to brighten up our families' day.
- Small Gifts: Individually wrapped snacks or toiletries always make a great gift!
- Snack Bags: Fill gift/lunch bags with water, juice boxes, chips, fruit snacks, granola bars or other non-perishable food items. Families can take these with them to the hospitals for a mid-day treat!
- Child Activity Bags: Fill gift/lunch bags with crayons, markers, stickers, activity pads, coloring books or other fun activities.
- Adult Goody Bags: Fill gift/lunch bags with pens, pencils, paper, note cards, crossword or other puzzle books, or other gifts just for parents.
- Notes: Write notes of encouragement to the families and children staying at the Ronald McDonald House.
Please keep in mind that all goodies must be new. We encourage volunteers to bring enough items to stuff 36 cubbies.

Write a Letter!
Operation Gratitude
Date/Time: Ongoing
Location: All your cards and letters can be sent together in one large mailing envelope or box to:
Operation Gratitude
21100 Lassen Street, Chatsworth, CA 91311-4278
ATTN: Letter Writing Program
Please include a
donation form in your large mailing envelope or box.
Operation Gratitude annually sends 200,000+ Care Packages filled with food, entertainment, hygiene, and handmade items, plus personal letters of appreciation to Veterans, First Responders, New Recruits, Wounded Heroes, their Care Givers, and to individually named U.S. service members deployed overseas and their families waiting at home. Of all the items included in these packages, the most cherished are the personal letters of appreciation! Our goal is to include several letters and colorful drawings in every Care Package and tell our troops "WE CARE!" Writing a letter is a meaningful way for Americans to show support for our Military. It only takes five minutes of your day, but will bring lasting joy to our troops. Letters are accepted year-round. Right now, we have a special need for those specifically written to our New Recruits, Veterans, and First Responders. Holiday cards need to be received two to three months prior to the holidays in order for them to reach our service members on time. Once we receive letters it takes us time to screen, sort and assemble them into our care packages and then we have to factor in the shipping time. If your letters will arrive at a later date it will work well to make them general letters of appreciation so that they may be used year round. Don't know where to start? Click
