February 2017
From Habitat to National Championship
Clemson QB Deshaun Watson

Warrick Dunn, a NFL star, partnered with Habitat for Humanity to provide furnishings and a full pantry for the Watson family's new home... This was the beginning of Deshaun Watson's new life and journey to football fame; he led the Clemson tigers to victory over Alabama in the 2017 College Football Playoff National Championship game! Now, Watson, like Dunn, helps families build Habitat houses into homes.

At a local church in South Carolina, "Watson talks about the old neighborhood, where he played pickup football games with gang members and drug dealers. He talks about the new house at the top of a hill with a wide front yard in a well-appointed suburban neighborhood. He talks about hope, because that's what he found in his new Habitat home."

Salem Community Theatre
Church Basement Ladies (a second helping) running in February

HFHMV recently merged with Columbiana County to create a "true" Mahoning Valley affiliate covering Mahoning, Trumbull, and Columbiana. In support of uplifting these communities and the incredible people who live, work and play in them we wanted to highlight the Salem Community Theatre.

The  Salem Community Theatre enjoys a long and distinguished history of providing instruction in the theatre arts, live performances, and a number of community outreach programs.

Due to the overwhelming success of the first production and the phenomenal audience response, Salem Community Theatre has decided to continue the story of Church Basement Ladies in late February of 2017. A Second Helping: the Church Basement Ladies Sequel, re-assembles the original creative team from last season, picking the story up in 1969 with the world continuing to change. As protests of the Vietnam War increase and women everywhere are demanding equal pay for equal work, A Second Helping: The Church Basement Ladies Sequel takes you from the High School students at the Luther League Banquet to a church sponsored Missionary night, all "here below the House of God".

Another reason to attend this production? Dave Bedell, a long-time volunteer and Habitat Columbiana County Board Member, is a cast member. Get out and support this terrific local organization AND Dave...he's a rock star livin' the dream of helping to build houses for people in need as well as performing on stage. Break a leg, Dave!

Performances are: February 17, 18, 24, 25 at 7:30pm. February 19, 26 at 2:00pm.

Single-show ticket prices are currently $15 for adults, $11 for senior adults (ages 62+) and $9 for students 17 & under. Discounted rates are available for groups of 10 or more.
