If you are a regular visitor to the Bishop's Garden, you have probably seen Addie Schopf carefully attending to the landscape. During this "quiet" season in the garden she is preparing for the growing season by researching plants, doing historical research on the garden, as well as getting organized and ordering supplies for spring.

Addie, who hails from Iowa, moved to DC in 2010, and holds the official title of the "Bishop's Gardener".

One of our Centennial Projects is the preservation of the Strong/Wight Fountain - which was designed by Mrs. L. Corrin Strong and dedicated to Rosalind Washburn Wright in 1950.

The fountain is located on the South wall of the Bishop's Garden and features beautiful cast flowers, and the inscription:

Through the hands such as these God speaks and from behind their eyes He smiles upon the earth

Time and animals have damaged the fountain such that it requires repair and relocation.

We hope you have already marked your calendar for the 78th annual Flower Mart - May 5th and 6th.

If you have books to donate to our Used Book Tent, you may drop them off in the Cathedral parking garage. There is a designated book drop on level B2 and the garage allows 30 minutes of free parking.

We will also be collecting gently used household items for our White Elephant Tent.  Check the Flower Mart page of our website for updates.

You can make a reservation now for Tour and Tea through June 2017. Our popular Cherry Blossom Teas are filling up quickly!
