JANUARY MEETING REVIEW

Rachael Lorenzo, our guest Real Estate agent, gave a very good presentation of the housing market in our area.  Rachael explained how easements are defined on the lot maps and the new owners are made aware of any easements, including trail easements, that are on the property they are looking to buy.
Rachael also discussed how trail easements could be a positive selling point as well as negative, depending on where the easement crosses the property and if the new buyer is pro-trail or not.   Close access to trail head is a very high selling point these days as more people are moving to areas like ours to be close to the trails.

Thank You Rachael for being our January guest speaker!

DONATION PRESENTED TO MVTA
MVTA Member, Board Member Chris Sihner, is one of our very active Members.  Chris is our Trail Master, he organizes all the trail work days and scouts out which of our trails needs the work first.  Chris also goes out on his own and works on several of our local trails.

In addition to that, Chris has been organizing hiking meets for the members of the Winchester Community!  It started innocently enough, they wanted to explore the trail in their own back yard.  Chris agreed to lead them on a hike around the Sugar Pine Trail.  Then that expanded to exploring trails outside of their back yard with Chris as their leader!

In appreciation for all of his work and time he spends showing them trails around the area and in appreciation for the work that he organizes to keep the trails clear, Tracy Holland, the Life Style Director of Winchester presented MVTA with a $100.00 donation!

Congratulations to Chris Sihner!

"Report On the California Greenways  Symposium"

Presented by MVTA President Tiffany Vanderlenden

The MVTA Board voted to send Tiffany to the Parks & Greenways Symnposium again this year.  Tiffany will be reporting back to the MVTA Members at this meeting what she learned and how MVTA can utilize the information and things she learned.

MVTA BOARD MEMBER ACTIVITY
What has the MVTA Board been up to lately?

Tiffany & Rich have been working with the County Parks to identify the official trail easements around the Meadow Vista Area.  the next
step will be to look at any trail easements that are in need of connector easements to allow the trail to continue on.

Tiffany

* Has been participating in the Master Plan Web Conference
with Placer County.  This will keep MVTA aware of any changes or enhancements to the current trail systems around Meadow Vista.
* Met with Christian Valley Community Services Program
to introduce them to some of the trails and paths in their community.  The presentation was well met and some members came forward offering their services to keep trails around Christian Valley trimmed and clean.

AIRMED SPECIAL MVTA RATE!
Would like to remind our members that MVTA was able to get our members, their family members and their friends, a discount on the AMCN membership!

The MVTA membership price is $55/year for family coverage.  The regular price is $65.00/year.  The discount can be used to purchase your own year of coverage or you can use it to purchase a yearly coverage for a family member or friend!  To keep this discount, we need at least 50 people to signup using our membership number 13437-CA-BUS.

If you have not, remember, soon we will be hitting those trails either on human foot, horseback, bicycle!  It would be an asset to have membership with AMCN, should you find yourself in a predicament during your recreation in the canyon.

We are unable to attach the information to this newsletter (application and coverage information), however, if you are interested to view it, you can log into their website, www.amcnrep.com

Or you can contact Sonja Conklin @ 530-648-6455, sonja.conklin@airmedcarenetwork.com
She can answer all your questions.  Please remember to provide her the plan number mentioned above to obtain the discount!

TRAIL WORK DAYS
Currently waiting for some dry time to schedule any trail work.

However, if you know of a current problem on a trail we maintain that is making it difficult to enjoy the trail, please let us know by emailing Chris at trailwork@MVTrails.org.

Trail work days will be scheduled based on volunteer availability. If you are interested in helping with trail maintenance, please contact Chris at trailwork@MVTrails.org.  Chris will contact you to schedule a time that will work best for the participating volunteers.

ARENA
Manure
Please pick up and haul out your horse manure from the Arena and staging area.

We do not have a service to pick up the manure.  It is up to everyone using the arena to pick up their manure and haul it out. Please help keep our arena, staging area, and dog park clean!

Gate
Please make sure that the gate is closed and locked when you leave the arena.  People will illegally dump trash in the staging area, if the gate is open and no one is there.

If you see anyone dumping illegally, get their license plate number and call 911 with the information!
