February 2018 Prayers

Week 1: February 1-8
Missions to Correct Vision Problems
Prayers of thanks for the work of Restoring Vision to provide glasses to those in need. They have partnered with more than 1,400 organizations to supply millions of pairs of glasses to people in 124 nations.

Pray for the work of Maitaimako Medical Mission in Nigeria. The organization's January 2018 outreach in Biu Borno state provided eye surgeries to 54 people. Pray for patients who required referrals for treatment and for the next outreach effort in May.
Week 2: February 9-16
Mental Health Programs
Pray for the 170,000 children in refugee camps in Bangladesh at risk of psychological and social distress. A report by World Vision calls for scaling up psychosocial interventions for children.

The majority of people with mental disorders in rural India are undiagnosed and untreated. Pray for Emmanuel Hospital Association's Project Burans to raise awareness and build competence among communities to respond to mental health needs. About the Project
Week 3: February 17-23
Drought
6.2 million people in Somalia need emergency aid, such as food, water and shelter, due to drought and ongoing conflict . Pray for relief and successful assistance efforts.

Pray for South African residents and health facilities facing a severe water crisis .
Week 4: February 24-28
Influenza Outbreaks & Emerging Epidemics
Pray for people affected by this season’s severe influenza outbreak . Pray for researchers working on a universal vaccine. See article by CCIH member Jonathan Quick on important lifesaving steps the public health community can take.

Pray for health authorities as they plan to manage the risk and impact of influenza. See WHO updated checklist for 2018 for pandemic influenza risk and impact management.
