Updates From the Guatemala Team
Kyle reports that all is going well and they are staying very busy!  They've made much progress on their goal of building 4 houses; they've constructed the walls, kitchen area, stoves, water filters and a portion of the roof on each house.  They've also helped paint a school, run a sports clinic for 50 children, run a carnival as part of a vacation Bible school program and much, much more.
Please continue to pray for health and safety for our 20 high school students and 4 leaders: Lilly Lin, Megan Armstrong, Mackenzie Barber, Abby Calverley, Christina Mangano, Maggie Axford, Rachel Crane, Nicki Koerwer, Qian Long, Miranda Pomphrett, Evan Weston, ChloĆ« Felopulos, Eden Vanslette, Sam Wolff, Jeff Williams, Griffin Williams, Ian Armstrong, Peter Wolff, Kanming Xu, Kieran Ireland, Keith Barber, Christie Smethurst, Kyle Smethurst and Steven Weiss.

Preaching this Sunday
Tom Petter, TCC's Interim Senior Pastor, will preach this Sunday. His sermon title is: "Who do You Say that I Am: Wounded Healer" " and is based on scripture found in John 5:2-15 & 24-25.
There will also be a Missions Moment at both services, highlighting the Prayer Night to be held at TCC on Monday, February 27.

Upcoming Events

Prayer Night Next Monday, February 27, 7P-8P in the Parlor
Come and join us as we turn our focus to God in a dedicated time of prayer next Monday evening from 7-8P in the parlor.  As Lent approaches, we look forward to a time of renewal and realize that we have much to be thankful for and to celebrate!  There'll be time for intercessory prayer and some of our students will share parts of their Guatemala testimonies.   All are welcome; come and be blessed!

The Teddy Sayonkon Foundation - Please Help, Donations Needed!
A note from Teddy: "It is great to have all of you inform that we are once again in the process of sending our last set of barrels to Liberia and as well as heading to Liberia at the end of March. If you have stuff that you will like to donate kindly bring it to the church. We are in need of note books, pencils, pens, shoes, backpacks, sneakers, clothes etc. We will also appreciate whatever the Lord lay on your heart to help with shipment cost and airfare.  I will like to also keep you updated with our plans to obtain a 501c status or if we can also have a fiscal sponsorship. Last week, Paul Church and I attended a two hours class at Boston Public Library and we were able to gain ideas on how to go about with non profit. I'll extend heartfelt thanks and appreciate to Paul Church for all his support and efforts to see us successful. At the moment, we cannot do all we want to as we have limited time to ship our donated items to Liberia as well as getting out there for distribution. I want to say a big thank you to all that contributing to our work in Liberia. If you have any questions don't hesitate to let me know."
Teddy continues his mission work in Liberia with efforts to collect clothes, shoes, school supplies, toys, books and Bibles.  If you would like to donate any of these items, please leave them in the collection area off the lobby in the stairwell.  Financial help toward the cost for shipping is also greatly needed.   Teddy can be reached at: [email protected] or 978-761-5239.

Announcements

** Winter Weather and Possible Church Cancellations**
With winter on our doorstep, here is TCC's inclement weather policy regarding church service delays or cancellation.  In the event of bad weather, a decision will be made by 7P on Saturday night for Sunday morning services.  On Sunday mornings, we may potentially cancel the 9:30 service (along with all LTA and Student Ministry Programming) and just have the 11A service.  There would not be any Student Ministry or Children's Programming at the 11A service.

You can learn about any plans to cancel or delay services by:
  • Calling the church office (508-358-7717; a temporary message will be left on the church's answering machine so that people may call in and find out the status of services)
  • Checking the front page of the TCC website
  • Checking CBSBoston.com
  • Watching WBZ-TV

As always, please use your own discretion before traveling in any questionable weather!

Children's Ministry

Guatemala Fund Raisers
Our 2 fundraisers, Guatemala Night and Chick-fil-A Spirit Night, brought in more than $3,000 combined. Each student continues to raise money or personally pay for their trip fee of $1750, which helps to cover some of the project materials as well.
So many of you have already committed financial support to our team members! Thank you! Our group remains short of our goal for project materials and child sponsorships. If you are interested in supporting our trip financially, please turn in cash or check to the TCC office. All checks should be made out to TCC with "Guatemala Trip" in the memo line.

Precepts Women's Evening Bible Study - Galatians
As the gospel spread across the Roman world in the first decades after Jesus' earthly ministry, conflict arose. Jews and Gentiles came to believe the gospel, and a struggle over what it meant to be a Christian began. What does it mean to live under grace? Do you have to keep the Law to be a Christian? All of it or just part of it? Who is right? How will we know?
God used an apostle to write a letter to some churches that were struggling with this issue, a letter that still speaks today. Its message clearly defines the relationship between Law and grace, and how Christians live under grace, led by the Spirit, free from bondage.

Volunteer Opportunities

TCC runs on volunteers! Please visit the TCC "How to Serve" webpage at http://www.tccwayland.org/serve.php for more information.   Here are a few current opportunities:

Additional Ushers Still Needed...
Our mission:   To welcome every visitor and member to the house of God!

What is needed : Ushers are absolutely critical in helping newcomers form their first impression of TCC. You help set the tone for the worship experience to come. You are representatives of God's kingdom.  You're not just opening doors, providing information, handing out bulletins or collecting the offering, you are making people feel welcome!

Could you help ONE  Sunday morning a month?  Please contact Debbie Wilson at [email protected] or 508-358-7717.

Volunteer Offering Counters Needed ...
Are you accurate and reliable?  Volunteers count the weekly offering (mostly checks for deposit) each Sunday, and we are in need of new helpers.  Offering counters work in pairs.  Contact Aimee Mury at [email protected] or 508- 358-7717, x303 if this might be a way you could help us.  Training provided!

Coffee Hour needs YOU!
If you enjoy having a cup of coffee while chatting with others between Sunday services, please sign-up (alone or with your Small Group) to host a coffee hour!   You don't even have to provide snacks - just make, set up and then clean up the coffee and tea ! ( Easy instructions provided - click here to see what is involved!)
Participation gives you and your group an opportunity to serve the Lord and is greatly appreciated by your fellow members.
Please sign up at the Connection Hub this Sunday or contact Robin Spinale, our new Coffee Hour Coordinator at [email protected]!

The TCC Food Pantry, "Loaves & Fishes" offers assistance to those of TCC and the surrounding community who need help with providing for themselves and their family.  If you are in need, or if you know of someone who is in need, please feel free to visit the church office for assistance from the food pantry.  The food pantry is open on Sunday mornings and during regular church office hours.

Donations to the TCC "Loaves & Fishes" Food Pantry are gratefully accepted.  There is a collection bin on a table near the lobby stairwell.  We only accept donations of non-perishable food and personal items.  WE RESPECTFULLY ASK YOU NOT TO DONATE ANY OPEN OR EXPIRED ITEMS - WE JUST HAVE TO THROW THEM AWAY!
