IN Statehouse

AIA Indiana Days at the Statehouse and YAF Day at the Statehouse

Use your clout and support your profession by attending an "AIA Indiana Day at the Statehouse." This is a unique opportunity for you to learn firsthand about the key AIA state legislative and regulatory issues and to become a lobbyist for a day. You will be able to directly impact the legislative process by meeting with your state legislators and discussing the issues important to architects. Current dates available are: February 6,12, 14, or 15. Please choose a date, RSVP to AIA Indiana Executive Director Jason Shelley, [email protected], 317/634-6993. The day will begin at 12 p.m. with lunch and end no later than 3 p.m. A unified voice is vital. Don't wait to get involved!

Why Design Matters: The Legacy of Alexander Girard 

The lecture/public conversation is scheduled for 6:30 p.m., February 22, in the Toby Theatre at the Indianapolis Museum of Art. Herman Miller's Global Brand Director Sam Grawe and Corporate Archivist Amy Auscherman will provide an overview of Alexander Girard's illustrious 21-year career with Herman Miller. Their presentation will be followed by a conversation with grandchildren Aleishall Girard-Maxon and Kori Girard, who preserve Girard's legacy through Girard Studio. CLICK HERE to learn more. 

2018 Edgewood Vendor Showcase by Edgewood Building Supply

You are invited to take part in the annual Edgewoood Vendor Showcase and educational event. This year's event, which is scheduled for February 14 will be held at the 502 East Event Center located in Carmel and will feature several new manufacturers and product lines. This is a one-day educational event with each attendee able to earn up to 4 AIA/CES learning units from a variety of available classes. There will be a total of 8 educational classes to choose from throughout the day with 4 being architecturally related and 4 hardscape courses. This event is free to attend and will include breakfast, lunch, and a social hour at the end of the day. Attendees will be eligible for prize drawings throughout the day. 2018 Symposium on Sustainability in Health Care (SSHC-18)   

Heapy Engineering is hosting the 8th Annual Symposium on Sustainability in Health Care (SSHC-18), an educational event for Healthcare providers and industry partners. The symposium is scheduled for March 20, 10 a.m. - 5 p.m., at the Sharonville Convention Center, 11355 Chester Rd., Cincinnati, OH 45246. This year's keynote luncheon features Bill Browning, Founding Partner of Terrapin Bright Green. Bill is one of the green building and real estate industry's foremost thinkers and strategists, and an advocate for sustainable design solutions at all levels of business, government, and civil society. AIA Indiana Assists in Successful Jeffersonville, IN SDAT Grant Application 

A IA Indiana, AIA Kentucky, and AIA Central Kentucky recently assisted the city of Jeffersonville, in their successful application for an AIA Sustainable Design Assessment Team Program (SDAT) grant. CLICK HERE to learn more about the AIA SDAT program.
 
The city was selected for the community assistance team program, and will be engaging AIA members from both KY and IN in the planning process throughout this year. Congratulations to the City of Jeffersonville on this exciting opportunity, which is likely to benefit local communities on both sides of the Ohio River!
